Matribox is surprisingly good on bass. It replaced my HX Stomp XL. Only downside is the device cannot do parallel routing so I gotta rely on the blends, but having a second clean amp with the A/B switcher more than offsets any downsides. I thought I would regret buying a cheaper unit but it's turned out amazing.

Top tone tips from /gg/s best player
1. Change your strings. Fresh strings = Fresh tone, tone slowly drains from the metal its science bitch.
2. Place your mic slightly offset from the center of the speaker cone if distorting happens move the mic away, lower the volume, or lower the input.
3. Tone and volume at 10, this is where your guitar sounds its best since its not being cucked before the amplification.

That's really all there is to it.

>slow then fast
There is a problem in your technique that is overusing motion for artificial speed. $10 says it is string crossing if you’re playing scales, but it may also be lack of evenness between downstrokes and upstrokes.

Practice 60bpm and do 10 reps. Then click the metronome up 1bpm, repeat. Once it becomes difficult, try adjusting your technique until you sort it out. You may need to try a different pick gauge.

Last, it may just be a musculature thing. Try to not tense up and make sure your breathing before a fast passage doesn’t sound like you’re about to jump into cold pool.

I finally bought a Voodoo Lab power supply and I think it just killed my board. Amazon shipped it in a plastic bag with no padding, the unit isn't padded in its own packaging either and sure enough when I plugged it in, an air raid siren went through my pedal chain, then the unit itself made a loud pop and died.
Now my pedals stutter and signal kind of lurches and fades for a moment or in some cases shut off instantly, both connected to the Voodoo Labs (did come back to life, after a day) and to my old power supply. There were like 15 pedals in that chain... I think all of them are damaged now, to varying degrees. I stil need to assess the damage and isolate everything play for a while but I think it's borked

>>

You'd probably want to match the bridge radius to the wider radius and the nut to the smaller radius. eg. on a 12"-16" compound radius make the nut a 12" (do floyd nuts even come in different radii?) and shim the bridge to 16" though guitars that come stock with floyds nowadays probably match the radius out of the box since they make saddle sets with different radii.

Evertunes eliminate the need to retune and help keep your intonation stable. Muh pick attack and muh vibrato depends entirely on how you set it up, which doesn't affect its tuning stability unless you're being a dingus.

you can have it still stay in tune no matter how hard you pick, but still boomer bend with it
and you know what? when you change strings, you dont even need to stretch them, they will be in tune where you left them the next day.

in fact, you can leave it for months on the wall if you want, pick it up, still in tune.

I think this might be it, I'm having this problem with relaxing my arm, if I do, I lose grip strength in my pick and it starts moving and spinning, if I try to tighten the grip between my index and thumb my whole arm tenses

>factory tubes died after a couple years and a tech put in some svetlanas that have been perfect for the last 15 years

>get a newer peavey off reverb
>it's full of dogshit JJs
>problems since day one
>too lazy to replace the tubes and it still acts up after ~30 minutes of playing

Shit tubes are shit, good tubes are good. The biggest issue is since tubes are omega-obsolete and only a couple companies make them for guitardists these days the quality control tends to be horrendous so you have to pay an arm and a leg for guaranteed good tubes. It's really not worth it after all the progress modelers have made in the last decade.

When I was relearning my picking technique (turned out I literally held the pick wrong for ten years and nobody teaching me or playing with me fucking noticed) I noticed a lot of tension in my jaw while trying to up the speeds. You have to try playing faster to get an idea of what mechanical motions are required to pick that fast then you have to slow down and make sure you're actually doing those specific motions slower rather than just doing what's comfortable to play slower because that "comfortable" technique probably won't scale well with speed.
It's all about training the right muscles to tense up at the right times while letting the rest of your body relax. Just make sure to check in on how your speed playing is doing compared to the slow practice every once in a while or you end up in a vacuum and practice techniques and movements that will be useless once the tempo picks up.

It should be set up for plug-and-play. No one has time to adjust their fuel pump on their car with every tank of gas. You're not going to rebias live or at a studio.

There's nothing wrong with modern production tubes. It's the myth that they need to run near death to sound good paired with the amps themselves being made from cheaper parts closer together. It's race to the bottom. The consumer will only pay for the right logo and the products with a little care taken in construction are price gouged.

Just reminding you that I love my Squier. Nyatoh body, Laurel fretboard... it's its own kind of uniquely 'new', with a sense of days past.

I play her through a Fender Frontman 10G and the bridge pickup screams 'Telecaster'. I didn't think I liked solid state amps, but this thing is great for my tiny unit.

I don't think I would be as happy with a maple neck, butterscotch blonde one. I mean, it's got a look. The binding does something to me.

Thanks, yeah...

Floyd Rose are 'double locking' where it clamps strings down at bridge and nut. Locking tuners don't do that. Locking tuners are great but they don't address the real weak points in tuning stability, where the string gets bound at nut and string trees on a strat.
I'd go as far to say that locking tuners don't even improve tuning stability unless you don't know how to restring and fuck up the winds I have locking tuners on a few guitars, the real benefit is it's easier to restring.
