Fun fact: the whole CD set is filled with the same picture over and over again, with the dog mom's face in the rear cover art, in the disc design and with a bunch of zooms in the whole booklet. I don't think I own any other album with just one picture on it.

I'm just getting into CDs after finding out that my local record shop has a small stash of Burzum stuff that I'm slowly working on buying from them

Latest thrift store finds, mostly 80s pressings. The Waterboys album is really good. Also really like that Lisa Stansfield album which sounds very modern for a 1989 release. Great singer, and the first and best track is produced by Coldcut with some fun vocal manipulation. I've got her second album too but don't like it as much.
>>

>this is what virgins hold up to flex on vinyl collecting chads
Grim. Please dont ever post that thrift stores have shit selection for records again.
>>
>>130034690
Not likely to find /mu/core albums obviously. But used CD are so cheap I buy anything remotely interesting (mostly 80s) and end up discovering some good stuff. The shit ones I donate away again, it's not even worth ebaying them. If you're rich enough to do this with vinyls you have better options than posting on 4chan.
>>
I would totally buy more RSD releases if there ever more than 4 CDs available usually put up by shite bands on the major labels
>>
>>130034740
Is CD collecting is about buying random, top 40-tier garbage just because it's there? I always figured it would entail having a good collection at least. This is like bragging about having a high body count when they are all 2s & fat chicks who were easy.
>>
>>130035029
>top 40-tier
80s top 40 is way better than modern top 40 and none of this is the remastered crap you get on streaming.
>>
>>130034447
Was 2m ago reading about ninja tune because I remembered a friend would dub his brother's. What mean?

The Waterboys cd is worth the trip alone, wtf you even talking about

My rsd haul includes the diamond edition of Shania Twain's Come On Over. 3 discs and a booklet. Assumed it was old but was released a couple years ago.

$59.99 for a remaster. I hope you didn't pay that much. The usual price in UK charity shops is 3 CDs for £1, and I've seen as low as 10 for £1.

It was RSD, of course Anon got ripped off.

Damn your go to spots must be pretty picked through. Robert Palmer's cover of I Didn't Mean to Turn You On is a banger though. You're not going to get the 12 inch mix there.
>>
>>130034447
I popped into the local Goodwill the other day and they had all of two CDs in the place. Felt pretty bad.
>>
>>130034447
guess you live in the uk? or some foreign country since those are all european pressings
>>130035029
>Is CD collecting is about buying random, top 40-tier garbage just because it's there?
that seems to be the way. strange to me because its like they have no focus

that lisa stansfield music is way too gay for me. harry connick...NO. and whats the point of a group like fairground attraction? they were young but just played old-time music that was out of fashion. they just got back together and released a new album. female singer looks like shes 100yrs old. sad
>>
>>130043886
>guess you live in the uk?
Yes
>like they have no focus
That makes it fun. If I was looking for specific CDs I'd be disappointed. UK thrift stores don't have to pay business rates (kind of property tax) and are mostly staffed by volunteers. Prices are so low there's no need to be picky.
>>
>>130044106
>That makes it fun.
This. If you go in with no expectations you can find some really good stuff.

>Prices are so low there's no need to be picky.
Unless it's Oxfam. Some of their stores can fuck off. Was looking to get some from one of their shops a few years ago and the prices were terrible. Talking double digits for pre-owned stuff.
>>
>>130039366
holy shit, found a copy of The Campfire Headphase with the JP bonus track on there. Mini Holy Grail fo me.
>>
>>130044106
>That makes it fun.
not really. funny thing is that even though i live in the usa ive seen those exact cds many times over the years. i have 6 of them
>If I was looking for specific CDs
isnt everybody looking for specific cds?
>I'd be disappointed.
yeah, going to thrifts in america is disappointing because there is no selection. the stuff that is out is trashed and not worth buying. i see bob marley cds quite often but they are always trashed
>>
>>130044325
>Unless it's Oxfam
I don't bother checking Oxfam. Might as well pay Ebay prices.

Just got this four-disc box set by a band only really remembered for one song

Probably overkill, but so far the first CD is very good

Living in Asia can be a pain in the ass sometimes. I can get anything from Amazon US or anything from Japan but if I want to order CDs from Europe I'm pretty much fucked. I don't want to pay out the ass for something that is cheap.

>>
>>130050112
did you find that early black triangle suicidal tendencies cd at an actual store? i see another cd with an obi so maybe you are in japan?
>>
>>130050394
No I ordered it from Japan. I was very lucky to get it as cheap as I did but you can see the water damage on the insert. It's worse on the Japanese lyric sheet. The disc is in immaculate condition though.
>>
>>130050448
never see them in the wild in the usa. usually, the artwork on many of the ones ive bought is ruined but it doesnt matter. i just toss that artwork and use the artwork from an american pressed version. the booklets for those black triangle cds are blank inside anyway. i have some of the genesis black triangle discs and all the artwork was ruined by mold/foxing. as long as the disc is mint i can replace the artwork or case
>>
>>130050516
Well if you're buying from Japan (the domestic market, not Discogs sellers) almost everything is in perfect condition. Even when you're buying those 80s discs they are usually well taken care of. If it's old and scarce it will usually be priced accordingly too. I'm always keeping an eye out for the good deals because of that. Zenmarket is the proxy I use and what I like to do is just fill up boxes with 6 CDs at a time to prevent customs issues here.

do any of you actually listen to your cd's or is it just for collecting?
>>
>>130052687
I rip them and listen to them all the time. I don't own a CD player.
