>>130029241HoLV isnt bad as such but its about the least Cocteau Twinsy of their albums imo, its well made pop music but far less distinctive and inventive than their earlier stuff. I think of it as the Cocteau Twins album for people who don’t really like the Cocteau Twins.
Blue Bell Knoll has the most bops
I really dug their first couple of albums at one point, but for me Lowlife is still the superior act. I like music with ethereal qualities but most of the CC stuff is too saccharine sounding for me. I will still bump Garlands every now and then.

>>130029269makes sense in a way, shoegaze/dream pop isnt as underground or otherworldly sounding as it was in the 80s/90s, its a semi mainstream genre with zoomers and i think spotify puts the cocteau twins on a lot of ambient type playlists.more traditional rock stuff hasnt aged as well with new gens but dream pop/shoegaze probably fits more with them than it did the actual gen x in the 90s
