I dont really understand why this album is considered "low" or lower rated? Most songs are great.
it's underrated but i would say most songs are great, it's an okay 6-7/10 release even tho most people think it's like some awful forgotten travesty
>>130036038People are drones eg when faggots round here fell for pitchfork landfill. That album is better than blacktar
>>130036038I'm a huge Bowie fan but this album doesn't speak to me whatsoever. I think it's really boring due to the major adult contemporary vibe throughout most of the album, and think it was a step back creatively compared to Outside and Earthling since both of them were daring. Literally the first song of the album as soon as I hit play, it's like that one scene in Spongebob where he and Patrick are walking through the perfume department That being said I wouldn't say it's objectively a bad album though, just not for me
>>130036038It's not badI always forget it exists until I remember Mark Prindle rated it as Bowie's best album, which was a headscratcher
>>130036308>That album is better than blacktarIt's really not
>>130037526A lot of people on this board like to shit on Blackstar and say it's only good because he died
>>130036038New Angels of purpose is better than any song off of his last 2 albums
>>130037926So good you didn't type the song name correctly
cuz hes david bowie who made ziggy stardust, station to station, lets dance, etc which were exciting or youthful while hours is a snoozefest made for middle aged wine moms. even in his mid life crisis phase the music was way more interesting than this crap. mark plati was also a poor choice to produce this record
>>130036308shit contrarian take
>>130037478>major adult contemporary vibepeople always say this, but i don't hear it. it's really only thursday's child, which i like, but it should never have led the album off and it's a bad first impression. the album just sounds confused, bowie's still in major mid life crisis mode here, and it's kind of got no great material. i still like it though
>>130039790I also get it from Something In The Air Tonight and the more acoustic ballads like Seven. Just that very languid and sultry energy, which doesn't get broken until The Pretty Things Are Going To Hell which is still a bad song. I get the appeal of the album and I hear from a lot of people that it grows on you as you get older, but to me Heathen struck a much better balance for a mature Bowie
>>130039596>thinking by myself in an honest way makes me a contrarianretarded homosexual take
>>130036038Thursday’s Child ripped off a Richard Ashcroft’s Song of the Lovers video that came out the same year
>>130041255>3 April 2000 is before 20 September 1999Apologise and never spout falsehoods again.
>>130037526>>130039596NTA but it's true though. Blackstar doesn't have a lot I come back to, while Hours has Survive, Seven and New Angels of Promise just off the top of my head, all great tracks I replay regularly.
>>130042811See>>130039596Blackstar song is of greater value than the whole Hours album.
>>130036038Reading Reeves Gabrels' account of making this album made me realize he was just an uptight hipster faggot who was just trying to force Bowie into his own mold.
>>130036038Most aren't. Heathen is better from geezer bowie.
