How can I progress as a drummer? Specifically in limb independence and improvisation? I haven't practiced out of exercise books since I stopped taking lessons 4 years ago, should I go back to those? I feel like I'm not progressing very much. I'm certainly a competent timekeeper but I want to be more. Nowadays my practice routine is just rudiments for 30-60 minutes a day and then playing along to songs. How can I get improving faster?

This is going to sound like a joke, but the best drummer I've ever known told me (a non-drummer) that the best way to improve your rhythm, for drummers and non-drummers, is to do aerobics classes. my brothers in /mu/, I'm here to tell you that that shit works.>>130038784>/mu/ doesnt know shit about drums. You can only ask about KPop, Ye, Liv, Tay, Sab, Christgau, Fantano and which bands have trannies in them here.FTFYI guess you can also ask /mu/ about reddit, since /mu/ is bizarrely obsessed with what reddit thinks, although the answer is gonna be incorrect about half the time.but actually improving your musicianship, and on specific intstruments? much more iffy.
