It might seem backwards but the key to playing fast is to practice slowly. This is the way the classical composers did it.
>>
>>130053973
Yngwie certainly didnt
>>
>>130054703
He didn’t practice slowly?
>>
>>130054928
no
>>
>>130053973
>It might seem backwards
It doesn't to anybody who isn't a fucking moron.
>>
He’s a terrible example. Sloppy af
>>
>>130055277
he wasn't sloppy in 1983
>>
>>130053973
playing fast is so fucking cringe, like what are you trying to prove. also get a haircut
>>
You don’t get good at sprinting by practicing how to walk
>>
>>130055361
Getting good at sprinting is a process of running slow till you progressively get faster
>>
>>130053973
There is an alternate theory which is practice as fast as you can
>>
>>130055403
literally just do both.
if you can't play it slow, you can't play it fast. but also, you can't play it fast if you never play it fast. ya know?
>>
>>130055395
shut the fuck up you bitch ass nigger, or I will rape you
>>
play it slow at first then increase the metronome one notch until you reach the target

he did he but he used another technique where he tries to sync his speed with his tapping speed.

Its easier to tap than to strum a string. Therefore he did it until both sounds where sync'd
this technique works to train your speed
>>
>>130056011
Sounds interesting. I get the concept of doing trills with tapping is way faster and easier than doing itwith just your left hand. You got a vid of this practice technique you mention of? Thanks

Ah so legato. Thanks man. Tried it out and while it's doable with that one position legato lick thing it's quite a pain when crossing strings. But he's right, it doesn't happen overnight.

Playing fast is easy. Synchronization is hard
>>
>>130053973
you fags forget that relaxation of your whole body is an THE essential aspect to playing fast, play slowly without a metronome and concentrate on trying to be fully relaxed, be hyper aware on where where you specifically tense up and how, than add the metronome in and accelerate while maintaining the relaxed state, what i specifically refer to is RELAXING your whole body to the very unnoticeable places like the back of your tongue
>>
>>130061486
if you completely relax your entire body you would not be capable of playing at all
>>
>>130061515
terrible wording my bad
>>
>>130061486
Just relax bro, while you sprint 100 meters
>>
>>130053973
why play slow if you can play fast?
>>
>>130053973
there are some riffs you can't slow down though. you can slow it down, but without playing it at speed, the strings don't rebound the same way and you cant get the right feel until it's very close to full speed.
>>
shawn lane is also on record saying that in order to hit the highest speeds you do have to just go for it at a certain point...you wont be able to build up. of course youre in the realm of shit nobody actually gives a fuck about at that point...it was more impressive to me how he could play while smoking and being so fukkin fat
>>
>>130066484
Yeah saw this interview too. But I think he's a genetic freak outlier, along with Roy Marchbank. People who knew him said he was quite clever and reportedly had eidetic memory.

Saw Guthrie in a clinic. As dexterous as he is he said sometimes you just don't get to those speeds even if you spend years in your room with a metronome. But he comes from the school of slowing it down and til you get it, then increment or blast the tempo every now and then til the phrase is yours.

Should I listen to YouTube grifters and watch their videos about the secret to good picking technique? I've seen shredders with all sorts of grips, angles, escapes, thumb position and anchoring. It seems that there's no best way to do it.
>>
>>130053973
You either got it or you don't thems the brakes
>>
>>130066484
Andy Wood says the same thing. Slow practice is to learn where the notes are. Once that’s memorized you play at tempo and analyze where it falls apart
>>
>>130066806
The best guitar player in the world doesn’t even use a pick. Let that sink in
>>
>>130070426
Using a thumbpick is still a form of pick

There is. It's called universal guitar technique.
