Why do so many artists end up becoming increasingly lame as they get old? Do they just lose all their creative spark or is it a case of phoning it in for money?https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/news/massive-attack-tom-waits-boots-on-the-ground-lyrics-b2958099.html
>>130057086Why are you a ZOG shill?
>>130057086How fucking stupid do you have to be to get triggered over this shit?Magats unironically need to be gassed.
Not music.>>>/pol/
>>130057086>these musicians who have literally always made music about politics are making music about politicsi got bad news for you if you are a /pol/cuck bro, the absolute vast majority of good music is political and not in the direction you want lol
>>130057086dont worry bro there plenty of good non woke music you can listen to take this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gz0qE0oWHoM
>>130057231>>130057215Tell me with a straight face you think this song is any good. Protest music is almost entirely shit because it's more interested in the message rather than the art being good.>>130057351Music trying to be 'non woke' is also shit. All of this stuff is the musical version of what Norm would call 'important comedy', aka, unfunny comedy where the comedian cares about getting applause rather than getting laughs.
>>130057086>band name is massive attack>is for some reason...against the massive attack?Idk, they seem like hypocrites to me.
>>130057325>the absolute vast majority of good music is politicalNo it isn't. Most music isn't political at all.
>>130057086Very anti-semetic of him. I sentence him to blow 500 kisses at the wailing wall
>>130057325>>these musicians who have literally always made music about politicsThis isn't correct with Tom either.Tom Waits has written maybe 4 or 5 political songs at the most in his entire career of however many hundred songs he's written. Of those songs only a couple are even overtly political. The most overtly political song he's made is probably 'Day after Tomorrow', a genuinely well written song that doesn't ever become hamfisted and could really be about any war, meaning it becomes timeless. Something that's not an easy thing to do and the song is better for it.Compare that to this thing, the songwriting isn't comparable. He is phoning this stuff in with massive attack.
>>130057325So true sis
>>130057497He literally wrote Road to Peace which is sympathetic to Palestinian resistance and against Bush and aid to Israel. You are a MIGA retard and a faggot.
>>130057433Yea true if you have the shittiest taste ever and only listen like 80s glam metal and buttrock lol
>>130057231I voted trump thrice and I'm absolutely anti the iran war, massive waste of time and lives and its been nothing but losses since it began, don't act like all Trump supporters wanted war, we voted Trump to avoid war
>>130057086Who else fell victim to this?>Prefab Sprout's last song was a song whining about 2016-era Trump, called "America">A Tribe Called Quest ended their comeback album with a track about Trump>one of Prince's last songs was about the Ferguson riots (remember those?)>Black Grape opened their comeback album whining about Trump and HillaryTrump is a slave for jews, but legacy acts really like sullying their discography with a boring Trump diss. Little Dark Age is the only time anti-Trump music worked (the album was inspired by the 2016 election).
>>130057086massive attack had to censor their name because of the gulf war
>>130058205That just means you're a fucking retard who fell for a known conman. Of course this was the end goal, he was on the republican side for a reason.
>>130057215>>130057231>>130057325>>130057351shits buns my nigga go import another 100 million indians
>>130057086>Artists who don't want people to die make song.REEEEE WHY ARE THEY LIKE THIS?!?!?
>>130057497Thanks, just know that I see you and agree with you. You are right, these people are insane, and you are not crazy. Gnostics say they are the demiurge.
We all agree that OP is a retard, but let's take a moment to appreciate that this is a very unexpected collab
>>130059042When you have cokehead heretics on your side you know you're in good company
>>130059140The odds of a random person understanding this and making a negative retort are slim to none.
>>130057086Everyone's under pressure to find meaning.Poor fucks can't afford to care about something happening on the other side of the world, because they have to make money and pay bills.Artists who are loaded and don't need to work fill their need for meaning by this sort of social signalling. It makes them feel like they're on a mission
>>130059330Ah yes because the Iran war is certainly not affecting working people after the strait got blocked. Retard
>>130059412In fairness, if an edgy punk artist put out a record about nuking Iran back to the stone age over pushing up their gas prices, I would probably have a laugh at it. But you know that's never how most mainstream artists protestsMost don't even care about the actual war, it's just an excuse to shit on America for the most part (despite it being Israel's war) or to signal that they're not right wing to their other artists (and presumably whatever young women will get their clothes off)
>why are there no protest songs anymore huh???>protest song happens>b-but not like this AIIEEE
>>130061223Who even wants protest wants? The average artist has nothing of worth to say and no big record label will allow anything "fresh" throughBack in the day, you had edgy protest music to form a sort of "kinship" with other young people. Nowadays, you just need to log onto social media or even go /here/ to see someone saying something far funnier and edgier than any musician can come out with. Meanwhile the average age of the people writing protest music is 60 something.
>>130061239 (Me)>who even wants protest wantsWho even wants protest music*
>>130059330>>130060253>despite it being Israel's warAnd? Usa is Israel's bitch
>>130061676What's worse, the trainer or the dog?
>>130061239I think it's nice that Tom Waits and Massive Attack are making music against the jew's war. Rustling your jimmies is a side benefit, I suppose. Why does it rankle you so?
>>130062177Most protest music is meaningless, is why. And in this age, it's almost exclusively being put out by artists well past their prime for pandering>against the jew's war.If they were at least calling it "The Jew's War" or "The Greater Israel Project" or something, I'd at least find it funny and call it a bit based. But practically all of these musicians only complain about it with the most kosher of terms. It reminds me of Bono trying to complain about it by calling it "right-wing religious extremism" while being coy about the inherent Jewishness of the war, as if any other religion is acting like the modern Jew
>>130060253I think anti-war music is best left to lunatics who get so paranoid of nuclear war they move to Iceland. War is crazy so you need crazy people to sing about it, like they're witnessing an asteroid smashing into the planet:https://youtu.be/qknu5J6Gp6sOr at least have a lot of oomph (Fortunate Son comes to mind here). I don't like Tom Waits but that's a personal preference.
>>130057325>the absolute vast majority of good music is politicalThis is the faggiest statement I've read on this website today
>>130057086Overtly political music is doomed to be lame for the same reason as most Christian rock: the proselytizing comes first, the actual music is a secondary concern at best.
>>130062281But why invest the time and energy kvetching about artists speaking out against the war (without specificly identifying it as the jew's war) instead of the vast majority of artists who are too afraid of the jews to issue even the meekest statement against it?
>>130057086>Why do so many artists end up becoming increasingly lame as they get old? dunno - but this thread isn't about Ye, it's about Tom Waits and Massive attack.>>130057215fpbp
Iran is an evil Islamic country; Anyone who supports them and their "right" to abuse and murder their own citizens is a scumbag and should get the Ayatollah treatment.
>>130063074>should get the Ayatollah treatment.Living until they're 85 years old?
