I've been seeing a lot of misinformation and flat out lies spread around /mu/ about Jim Morrison and The Doors. As a preeminent Doors scholar (I even teach a class on them at my local community college) I decided to make this thread to dispel some of the falsehoods and misunderstandings about Jimbo and the legendary Doors1. The Doors are a Food Rock band first and foremost. Ray Manzarek has confirmed in interviews that in Venice Beach in the mid 60s everyone was experimenting with new foods and flavors. This environment is what birthed the band and influenced Jim's poetry moving forward2. Jim Morrison was the Burger King. Yes it is true he ate fried chicken but he was known for his legendary appetite and willingness to eat any food that was handed to him. Most of all according to band members like Manzarek and Krieger he loved cheese whoppers and burgers in general and ate more of them than anyone had ever seen3. Jim Morrison's poetry was influenced by the different food and drinks he was consuming at the time.
