EDM is the most fun genre around, so why do you hate fun so much?

I like EDM, I don't see many threads about it though. Same with techno.

I'd switch out some of the Kpop and complaining threads to share more EDM stuff

i like electronic music before the 2010s, when it was an underground thing listened to and created by homosexuals and middle class black people from detroit
The word EDM just reminds me of corporate slop, giant corporate festivals where people go to get high and dont care about the music
>>
>>130060477
never got high
never went to a festival
95% of what i listen to is 'edm'

huuuh is that the new one from VR where he did the video setting himself on fire? no wait, that's fire and forget nvm.

a couple days ago I noticed he was streaming while remixing an Underscore song so I joined the stream cuz he's always got something to learn from. the song is nice though I'm not a big fan of the *throathy* basses that are used there, reminds me of some Wooli songs or something

here's sum other stuff I enjoyed from my last year top 100 songs: https://youtu.be/z08SH5Gl0Yo?si=rUasWafNpBX6Zphj

yeah i have a few tracks from alisons album saved in my playlist as well. im usually mixed on her but it was mostly good this time around, think Sirens was my fav

havent even checked out virtual riot in so long, i checked out of dubstep for nearly a decade because i absolutely hated the tearout and riddim sound but all the OGs are trying to bring brostep back, i kinda like it.

I don't have a lot of her tracks saved, I'm a casual listeners but I really enjoyed that one

>checked out of dubstep for nearly a decade because i absolutely hated the tearout and riddim sound
I was skeptical of tearout and riddim as well (mostly still am) but when one of those tracks hit, fuck me if they hit just right. My most listened track last year was a tearout one actually: https://youtu.be/53-bb7WyAQM

>that barely alive track
god dayum

it's even got the melodic countermeasures like scary monster (https://youtu.be/WSeNSzJ2-Jw?t=51)

the Dillon Francis one is fine, I like alot the chords, especially in the predrops. Last year I did save one of his tracks on my playlist though: https://youtu.be/9ifeaZo2It0

wew i like that dillon track

>but when one of those tracks hit, fuck me if they hit just right.
i can see that yeah i did enjoy it at first but after a year i lost interest, there wasnt really much you could do with that sound
this was one of the early ones i enjoyed

damn, Marauda really is one of the tearout goats huh

if you want to try some abysmal dogshit riddim this one I found last year is just amazing xD https://youtu.be/jCEr60j3DW0

I've recently started going down that hellhole that is dariacore/hyperflip (I know, late to the party) but some of the stuff is actually kino. + I come from rhythm game music as my introduction to EDM so it's somewhat nostalgic

what's your take on color bass like the second half of : https://youtu.be/BaKqzRHQpJk ?

sorry went to have lunch, lol

I'll listen to it in a bit, currently finally giving a listen to https://youtu.be/Gm5-Xo4BEWU since I saw it coming out and have been listening to starjunk for a while now

also about the dariacore. it's literally just hyperpop, more distorted, more sampling of pop songs and more internet addict. Never been part of the community but afaik it's really the trans/internet addict type of stuff (like people that bump femtanyl and similar)

EDM is way to big of an umbrella term to draw any conclusions over. I actually kind of dislike this thread's premise. Unless you have something against music made electronically, or dislike dancing, I see no reason for this discussion... Electronic Dance Music.

Again EDM is a huge umbrella term for a bunch of different genres and styles. Unless we're talking about the festival EDM scene, which is what most people think about when they hear the term.....
>>
>>130064407
Why are edm festivals supposed to be bad but rock/metal festivals arent?
>>
>>130065420
Here’s some further irony: bands like Metallica, kiss and even coal chamber have made insane bank selling overpriced merch… whereas you can get a luke vibert or fatboy slim shirt for pennies… and you can go a lifetime without seeing a person in an orbital shirt…

metal heads are way more corporate in the end.

>when it was an underground thing listened to and created by homosexuals and middle class black people from detroit
electronic was popular music from the 1990s onward. there were 'underground' genres, sure. there were genres which were not mainstream, sure. but house music, dance music were part of the mainstream pop sound. even more artistic electronic genres were still evolved from 80s art-pop.

>giant corporate festivals where people go to get high and dont care about the music
so it was fine when the festivals, raves, weekenders were done by travellers and gangs selling drugs, but it is wrong if an investment firm is involved?
your argument is shit and really quite ignorant.
>EDM is shit but detroit and berlin techno is valid
is the worst and most basic opinion anyone can have about electronic music.
>>
>>130065454
Yeah it's the EDM that sells that gets referred to as EDM. Also what even is IDM? Intellegent dance music. Like. I just really dislike those terms - edm/idm. Where does the line between complexity (intelligent) end and normal dancing (edm) begin. Would something like Digeridoo by Aphex Twin or Donkey Rubarb be idm or edm?
