working my way through the bigger /mu/ essentials chart, just listened to Merriweather Post Pavilion- it's great.

is their other shit worth spending time on, or are there any other similar albums they made? i've heard it's quite different to the sound of MPP

AnCo is fucking amazing literally just start at the beginning with Spirit and go to the end. You don’t have to pretend to like Danse Manatee or every song on every album leading up to Sung Tongs but seeing an experimental group like that develop their sound over time and come into their own successfully merging the craziness of their early shit with more straightforward melodies is really cool. The fall off after MPP is obvious, but listening to the whole journey is interesting and also they have made good solo projects on their own. AnCo as an actual collective of musicians has put out a ton of music and it’s all worth checking out even if a good chunk of it isn’t your style. If you can’t dig the weird shit then a basic list is just

Almost everything in their 2000s discography is good. Do Strawberry Jam/Feels next then explore from there.
