Saying Geese "gamed the system" is like saying that people who schedule an appointment at the DMV to avoid waiting in line are "gaming the system" like okay sure retards, they recorded 3 albums and attended numerous live shows and hired a retarded marketing team. Sure feels like gaming the system lmao

its clickbait, Rick actually plays advocate of the devil in this vid

>>130065424
Don't expect people to listen to your music simply because you release it, THAT is a cope. You need to market your music to your potential listeners in some way
>>
>>130065356
yeah, good to see rick give another sober and correct analysis on the situation. all you incels screeching about "industry plants" like this is some new phenomenon know absolutely nothing about how the industry has worked for multiple decades.
>>
I don't get this meme, heard Geese for the very first time in week 2 of Coachella and I thought they were pretty good. So now I'm not allowed to enjoy their music because they're astroturfed heavily?

Also they give somewhat of a Sonic Youth vibe, that's how I feel about their presence.
>>
It took them being a "psyop" for people to realize they were slop all along? Grim

>to pretend you are bigger/more important than you are
They played Coachella, are in the middle of a world tour, and their newest album has millions of listens. I'd say they're pretty important, I'm not saying they're good, I prefer 3D country overall and Getting Killed kind of fucking sucks but you can't argue they aren't big right now
>>
>>130065424
You disingenuous shit. There were tons of older bands and older artists caught using Chaotic Good Projects as well. Geese were just the most obvious.
>>
>>130065677
They got what any anon that is musician wish for, to make a living of music from people to enjoy their music
>>
It got me thinking, the fact that so many (books) people are talking about the 'psyops' or similar events instead of their music just shows you how much modern music listeners don't care about music in general. Because truthfully their music is pretty good, not great, as they stand out from the competition especially how uninspired modern music is today. We're in a similar boat to the video-game scene where gaymers would rather have discourses about political identities or the reviewer reviewing a game instead of the game itself. I never thought we would stoop so low as to be equivalent to >>>/v/

This whole conversation has been blown out to make no sense to anyone just reading headlines. Geese did modern payola to have bots inflate their position in the current musical landscape. The only people winning from this are rich bands/rich labels/rich kids making 'marketing firms' in the vein of the one that was hired to help Geese. The gulf between the haves and have nots in music just gets wider and wider and now you can't accurately be sure of what bands have an organic come up versus one that has a machine behind it making their come up look organic. Does that exist anymore? I say sometimes yes, but pretending this is what it always was and always will be is just ignorant and reductive. I know a few dudes in bands who had some music pop off on TikTok who were working day jobs before their lives changed and now can tour comfortably for the foreseeable future. Not to mention the bands that attempted to do this and failed miserably. All the discourse has been reduced to Geese being completely fake and nobody actually likes them, when in reality, they are just setting a new bad precedent for what is expected for a band nowadays and weirdly critics like Fantano are fine with it cause they like the band. Same with his P4K paywall take being a expected reality. He's out of touch and so are the people fine with these horrible mechanisms at play.
>>
This isn't just marketing. I don't give a shit about payola, about gaming the algorithm, about Geese being an incredibly shitty band that doesn't deserve any notoriety, mediocrity being successful, or fucking idiots with bad taste getting scammed. The worst part about it is fake accounts, bots making shitloads of posts and fake comments, etc. Anything contributing to the dead internet phenomenon is insidious and should be condemned.

>We're in a similar boat to the video-game scene where gaymers would rather have discourses about political identities or the reviewer reviewing a game instead of the game itself.
That's literally just been /v/ since 2007 though
>>
>>130065712
the marketing led to their current position and discourse, they were a minor going concern in indie circles until they paid for the bots, you have misrepresented my argument and are a retard
>>
>>130065749
cool, they had enough money to do that already if they had enough money to pay for the bots, that's not the dream, the dream is to make music/people care/they make you famous, the dream is not to pay for marketing to make you more popular so you can play music
>>
>>130065795
You're under this weird assumption that people just listen to music specifically because they were marketed to, which may be the case to some degree but marketing agencies generally have just as much interest in a band being marketable as a band does in marketing themselves. The only retard here is you.
>>
You cannot market shit and expect people to like it, it has to be at least decent and presentable enough to make people want to listen to it. Going through the internet I'm seeing retarded memes about how they (zoomers) are brainwashed into liking Goose. Like how the fuck does that work? Are zoomers so impressionable that they can't think for themselves? You can introduce me to a new product and claim it's the 'best,' but if I find it lousy, why would I maintain your opinion?
>>
>>130065821
>You're under this weird assumption that people just listen to music specifically because they were marketed to
This. You can't market shit and expect people to eat it. Notice how no one talks about their music and instead plays the 'psyops' card? These faggots are /v/ tourists on this board.

>>130065845
goddamn double retard alert, that's not what anyone is talking about, are you too stupid to understand what anyone in here is talking about? again misrepresenting and shifting the goalposts to fit your idea of the narrative, get a fucking grip faggots

marketing agencies generally have just as much interest in a band being marketable as a band does in marketing themselves. I don't really understand why this concept is so confusing for you. Also for what it's worth I first heard Geese on Projector before they became big and got on board with marketing agents

One day I saw two separate Instagram reels that said the only way to understand Geese is to listen to Television’s Marquee Moon and Velvet Underground, specifically Loaded. Both videos said you have to listen to Loaded
>>
>>
Guys, it's a good thing that now what passes as marketing is paying for bots that simulate cultural relevancy and gaslight you into believing <insert product> is good, we should adore artists that condone and benefit from this behavior, actually! Just wait until instead of a shitty indie band it's AI slop!
>>
>>130065845
If you hire bot farms to generate discourse around the album like “is this the zoomer rock album we’ve been waiting for?” or “this is rock album of the year” it’s incredibly easy to bait people into checking out your music solely because of FOMO
>>
>>130065356
any dude working inside the system has to speak about how it's not a big deal and just marketing or whatever. like fantano. they can't rage against their owners. just confirms the fact this is all an astroturfed fake and gay psy-op.
>>
>>130065356
Of course it's fake and the frontman dating Olivia rodrigo made it even more obvious. That's like thom yorke dting Britney spears in radiohead's heyday. Geese are astroturfed industry plants and a bunch of posers. Most of their music including cameron's were made aided with AI to know what would resonate with indie crowds

why would Olivia date some nobody just to market them? What does she get out of it?
>>
>>130065356
Now we need to have a Beato/Fantano debate stream
>>
is this the fuckin zoomer answer to the backstreet boys?
>>
Same reason she was hanging around Robert Smith, indie/rock cred. It's like how in early 00s Pitchfork promoted Kelly Clarkson. Olivia's label did market research to see how she can grow as an artist, esp her fanbase. She can't live off teen pop punk forever as she enters her twenties. Remember she and Sabrina Carpenter are Disney products first and foremost, from there is where the big investment comes from. And they are being set up to have an even more public Britney vs Christina "rivalry" than they already have now.

Wait, you're telling me music is a BUSINESS?

Whooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooa dude
>>
Never listened to them, never will. I'm glad I didn't fall for the astroturf. Yeah, yeah, yeah "THIS IS HOW THE INDUSTRY WORKS BRO, IT'S JUST CAPITALISM BRO, WHY YOU SO MAD?".

I don't give a fuck, it's poser shit confirmed. If you like it, you're a poser or a brainrotted zoomer who reifies the status quo cause 'THAT'S JUST HOW IT IS BRROOOO". We're bringing back gatekeeping. There needs to be a real switch around because back in the day all of these mother fuckers would have had their asses beat and driven out.
>>130067178
Yep just like this guy, you ain't making a dime off it. You're pathetic.
>>
>>130067763
It's odd how there's a general "fuck corporations" motto among gen z, but they're so beholden to and hungry for the next product the corporations shove in front of their faces, and so desperate for attention and fame themselves that whatever achieves it is sacrosanct.
