Deftones but good and not nu-m(ale)etal
>>
>sounds nothing like Deftones
Why do people get into seething shoots about this? They're both great bands.
>>
>>130069213
Because fans of buttrock like Hum are immature and mentally stunted.

Their most popular album is called You'd Prefer an Astronaut. Their most popular song Stars is about a girl who wants to go to mars. I suspect that the song has something to do with The Hum.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hum

https://youtu.be/1Anm9MSyvpI

>the song is about a girl who's had some kind of nervous breakdown and lost all attachment to everything she once cared about in life, including her own loved ones and even society's norms (i.e. sitting naked outside). She wishes she could just abandon everything and leave for some new existence far off in space.

Because Deftones sucks massive cocks
>>
>>130066645
Is this their only album, the zebra? That's all I see get posted on here
>>
>>130069324
I disagree but it still doesn't answer the question. They sound nothing alike. Why put them against each other?
>>
>>130069329
No and it's not even their best.
>>
>>130066645
>>130069316
>Zebras are prey
>Green is for money
People that build loud cities really think that most people are prey and the victim of greed and are only there because of that, but cities actually offer way more chances of meeting a better more adequate mate, because the amount of people increases drastically in cities.

*Dont
>>
>>130069316
Am I retarded, I thought it was about the stars and earth burning out in some sci-fi apocalypse with lines like
>if we both stand here with absent eyes and think about the oceans, watch them dry
>>
>>130069316
why do you have a photo of sydney?
>>
>>130066645
took me too long to listen to this band but they're for real so damn good
https://youtu.be/v7T8QWy8jiY
besides heavy guitars and some other stuff that just comes with 90s rock and mixing, I don't really hear the deftones comparison much. way too different
>>
>>130069555
It’s blatantly true. No Pumpkins, no party
>>
>>130070089
Listen to Knife prty and little dipper
>>
How does linkin park for girls sound anything like hum?
>>
>>130066645
Failure mogs both anyways.
>>
>>130072213
Linkin Park is already exclusively for little bitches of all genders.
>>
>>130072286
>gets worked by Linkin Park
>>
>>130072249
aren't you thinking of someone else?
>>
>>130072249
There's not much sense in comparing deftones to failure either. They're better by virtue of failure being good while deftones isn't but they don't sound similar at all.
>>
>>130072738
deftones took their sound from those bands, anon. who else would you compare deftones to?

It's like deftones but without the moanings and a less versatile singer

>>130069473
>>130069236
Hum threads bring either billy corgan cocksuckers or buttrock spammer, how sad
>>
What's the deal with this band? They only ever released one album and almost nothing is known about them but they suddenly got popular on RYM because they have similar sound to Hum.

Which other 90s alternative bands deserved to be bigger?
>>
>>130073320
Motorpsycho (still going strong but their 90s ouput was insane)
Paw
Swervedriver
>>
>>130073339
>Motorpsycho
They are more of a prog band with an eclectic style so they always had a more niche appeal
>>
>>130073231
hum is just corgan-worship. Accept it
>>
>>130073376
Nowadays yes, but most of their 90s work was indie/alternative rock. They started getting into prog around 2008.
>>
>>130073320
failure from that chart, Brainiac overall but their singer did die unfortunately
>>
>>130073320
Apparently Failure has a new album dropping tomorrow. Hope it's good.

Yes I saw that had a single with Hayley Williams
>>
>>130073339
what 3 Motorpsycho albums are the essentals? never heard of them til this thread but i know >>130073320
all of this chart pretty much
>>
Why did indie/alt bands insist on having such terrible, boring singers? Was it really so hard to find someone with a moderately good voice?
>>
>>130073545
that last comeback album was such a disappointment i'd be shocked if they turned it around, you know whose sound might benefit Failure? Ty Segall, he got some real good thickness to his guitar on a few modern records
>>
>>130073636
in the case of Pavement/Built to Spill/Modest Mouse they balance eccentricity, raw emotion and soul, baritony talk voices, unhinged yelling vocals, especially the yells and the emotional softer singing is the strong points imo but dont let the yells be undersold the energy they get is authentic in many of the 90s bands
>>
>>130073627
Depends on what you like, they've made over 25 albums at this point and changed genres multiple times.
As far as their 90s alt rock work goes: Blissard, Timothy's Monster & Trust Us. If you like these I also recommend checking their first live album, Roadwork Vol. 1.
If you're into long-winded prog/psych jams: Little Lucid Moments, Heavy Metal Fruit & their 2025 self-titled album.

>she's not at work, she's not at school, she's not in bed i think i've finally broke her

what did he meme by this?
>>
>>130073320
Knapsack
>>
>>130073716
i like both and i'll check out both, was the 2025 release as good as the former 2 you listed?
>>
>>130074579
While I think LLM & HMF are better, their 2025 album is still one of the better albums they released in the past 10 years.
>>
>>130066645
Downward is Heavenward is better and one of the greatest albums ever.
