was it good?
>>130069067It had its moments
1980-1996 was good for music, it was mostly white too.then they started over promoting rap and doubling down on reality tvby the mid to late 2000s and 2010s it was nothing but reality tvthen it diedtheir award shows used to be considered events, you would watch it and then talk about it the next day at schoolover all its probably for the best that viacom doesnt control what people watch anymore
>>130069067Yeah at its peak it was _IT_.Best popular monoculture everSo much different stuffImagine a mainstream TV station airing shows featuring both the latest thing but also experimental, ambient, underground.Everyone could find something to explore
>>130069067it was good yes before 2010
They had Beavis and Butthead and The Brothers Grunt. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9t7pylCz_KM&tI get nostalgic thinking about how I slept over at a friends house on the weekend (somewhere NY suburbs), drinking coke and watching typical 90s gross out shows on MTV.
>>130069067In the 90s they started drifting away from music and it went to shit. Road Rules and the Real World and cartoons like Beavis and Butthead and Aeon Flux. Some of this stuff might be good but it strayed from the mission of being Music Television. Now they just play some show called Rediculousness all day and re runs of the office and Big Bang theory? wtf
120 minutes was good, they actually played some weird shit sometimes. it was a different time, you couldnt skip the bad stuff or nepo baby/industry plant stuff, you learned to adapt. it was cool to be able to bond with over music more with people
