>a couple of TV comedians made the highest selling blues album of all time

What a woke piece of shit movie for its day
Designed to integrate post civil rights into media
None of the music is Blues
It's all Soul
It wasn't funny.
The performances were OK
2 stars

not a complicated formula really.
they could both sing, they put a talented band together to actually play the music and they chose good songs to cover. its not like the comedians had to play instruments or write music. Im not disparaging it though, it is a good soundtrack and album.

Band are pros, half of Booker T & The MGs + Paul Schaffer etc. Actors/comedians are good performers. SNL and movie sells the albums. I have this album it's cheaply made just a live set but it's allright.

they were just better at it than the regular blues "artists"

Steve Cropper said John Belushi was as good if not better than a lot of the "real" soul singers he worked with.
