Should musicians be allowed to be open about their political views?
>>130109184Yea why not. I listen to manson anyway even if he was hyper lib which for the most part except this take he is. Leftoids are always going to end up alienating one another for not commiting to the bit fully. I hope leftists keep pushing Manson right wards. It can be another JK Rowling situation
>>130109184Even after 30 years he can still remain controversial
I think any performer who is open about their political views is betraying their own platform as an entertainer. This goes for retards like Billy Eyelash too. If you wanted be some political commentator then be a fucking political commentator. Your job should be to allow people to escape from the real world, not slap people in the face with it. All the Vietnam protest songs have aged like milk and sound cringe now. People like Bob Dylan work so well because they knew how to hide their messaging behind poetry because they knew their roles first and foremost were to entertain. A lot of the 60s guys were inspired by people like Jimmie Rodgers, that's the type of music they grew up on. They realized that being a musician was inherently performative.
>>130109262Yea but they are also human not just a jester that exists to entretain. Some shit just comes out. It has to sooner or later. A lot of musicans aint actually hyper radlib woke n all that but they are afraid to speak up, they are waiting to get old to let it all out.t. Im in the music scene i know these things
>>130109184Bizarre that an opinion so boring and sensible is newsworthy.>Let children be childrenNOOOOOOOO BOYCOTT HIM
>>130109288I think another big issue is that social media and the internet in general tend to take otherwise off-hand comments someone said and turn it into a headline, on the internet everything is a soapbox even when it doesn't mean to be
>>130109184if people accept diversity, then yes
>>130109184How are gays supposed to buttslam children if they can't indoctrinate them with gay cartoons first?I mean, be fair
list of Merlyn’s political stances >cheeseburgers should be delivered to Merlyn at all times >there should be a government agency made to source Merlyn cheeseburgers
>>130109262not every entertainer wants to remain mum on their personal views solely so they can maximize the number of audiences they can appeal to
>>130109297Manson wont stop being rich , he survived the rumors that he removed 2 or 4 of his ribs to be able to suck his own dick, he will survive this one too career intact.Yes that was a rumor going on around middle schools about Manson seriously. The bs people make up lol
>>130109423There was also the rumor that he was that kid off the Wonder Years
>>130109480um sorry sweaty that one was true
>>130109480A lot of dumb shit has been said about Manson forever. Way way worse things than this modern reasonable take of his.Dude is not even a Satanist its just a meme of his character that he uses to draw attention to his music. He is fake edgy.
>>130109262>who is open about their political views is betraying their own platform as an entertainerbro, marilyn manson's albums were all about using music as the platform for expressing such viewswhat he said in OP was already said in american portrait and antichrist superstar: don't let the boy become a dragon
>>130109184If the average unemployed future cannonfodder chud can sputter out his diarrhea of opinions online for the world to see there's no reason why anyone else shouldn't
>>130109184There's no way this is his actual opinion. Supreme bait. Imagine Manson referring to anything traditional. Dude was running around in bdsm gear on stage in the 90's
>>130109262Noted. However, a bit of fame gets people asking all kinds of questions of you and politics will come up eventually. When you've seen as much shit as Manson has you start to realize the traditionalists had some really good points.
>>130109242Truly the last rockstar, how does he do it mansonbros?
>>130109184He's right
>>130109184yes and they are.
>>130109184>let kids be kidsohonono troons gonna ack
that quote is fake btw
>>130109184Manson never even said this. It's fake along with that picture of him. I can imagine he thinks it though.
