This recording of the Bill Evans Trio is one of my favourites, it is also on yt if I'm not mistaken.

NOT TO BE CONFUSED with his actual Quiet Now album.
>Quiet Now: Never Let Me Go
A posthumous compilation album that happens to be one of my favorites pertaining to Bill Evans.
Absolutely amazing set that truly showcases the delicate and sentimental side of his piano playing.

I still need to find a copy of this. Really interested to hear something other than Quiet Kenny.
>>130115319
The copy I have of this is beyond trashed and I had to take it off. Sounded like listening to rice krispies.

thank god, their music stopped being good for more than 5 decades. I'm not missing anything from that "culture".

Liberty-era blue note presses are pretty affordable if you stalk ebay auctions. I've gotten a bunch for $15-20. I just bought a disc only copy of Andrew Hill's Smoke Stack for $7 plus shipping, van gelder runouts, plays VG+

No clue what this is but it looks amazing and I want it.

Bro I've been looking for John Patton albums and even the re-presses are the price of a new car.
And on top of that, for his debut the repressings were 2LP 45 RPM ones and that shit is annoying. There's NO reason 35 minutes of music needs to be 2LPs.
>>
>>130118195
That is a good tip. The last couple years the only way I've been able to source Blue Notes has been Japanese pressings. Or waiting for Amazon to discount their Tone Poets.
>>130118415
Honestly I think that trying to sell to audiophiles is hurting the reissue industry. Everyone thinks they have magic ears and will hear some difference and for sure, pressing quality matters. But by making everything audiophile grade its just encouraging the companies to fleece us.
I have some of those euro gray market reissues from a few years ago. And they sound fine...totally fine. Especially for the price. There is a market for a regular reissue without all the glazing over AAA mastering and 180g, 2LP versions of things that my grand father would have listened to in a cheap 60s stereo cabinet.

>Honestly I think that trying to sell to audiophiles is hurting the reissue industry.
Yeah I 100% agree. Half the time I'm looking for reissues it's a single album worth of length but they decide to make it single sided double LPs or make you play it at twice the speed and it's so unnecessarily tedious.
I get it if it's a 60+ minute album and there's technical restraints but seriously, 40~ minutes across two disks? That's ridiculous.

Disc only records in general sell for nothing, even in really good shape. Especially battered beauties like picrel, which has absolutely no damage to the wax

Giuffre overdubbing himself to sound like four saxophones and absolutely no drums, it's a wonderful album.

That's not a bad idea in theory. But if I'm being honest, I have a couple of Ramsey Lewis albums that are missing the covers and it makes me cringe whenever I try to listen to them.
It's stupid but it matters to be able to sit back and look at the cover and read the notes after I drop the needle.
