Give me a clear opinion about Coldplay.
they have two good songs and a bunch of slop
>>130112546I'm listening to them and I've heard at least 3 or 4 good ones.
>>130112535I’ve never listened to them voluntarily because I’m too pretentious to listen to anything popular unless it’s also old.In an effort to combat this hipsterism I tried listening to some radio pop songs the other day, one of which was Toxic by Britney Spears. I thought the song was really well produced and catchy and interesting, but I was annoyed by the flagrant sexuality of Britney’s voice. I was thinking to myself “art should take us to a place of pure contemplation, free from all lower, animal desires. So doing as modern pop does and filling music with sex goes against the aim of art.”But then I thought “bruh, since when has music been anything but sexual? You love Marvin Gaye, for example. This dude has several songs where he’s legitimately moaning sexually on the beat. But now you’re gonna claim you don’t like Britney because she’s too sexual? Make up your mind, man. Does overt sexuality belong in music and art in general, or not?”
>>130112585Sexuality is something much deeper than having a "sexual voice".Coldplay is deeply sexual in a sense.
>>130112600I guess so. Obviously sexuality is a huge part of the human condition, maybe the most important. I think when it’s done tastefully and artistically I think of it as ‘eroticism.’ But when we reach the point where the singer is moaning and groaning on the beat and the music video is just bitches throwing ass, we’ve crossed a line. Anyway, sorry for hijacking your Coldplay thread.
>>130112535I like em.' Not afraid to admit it especially their earlier albums.
>I WANT SOMETHING JUST LIKE THIS >(DUN...DUN DUN DUN.....DUN DUN DUN.....DUN DUN)>I WANT SOMETHING JUST LIKE THIS
>>130112535Sierra Eagelson had a great cover of Viva La Vida:https://youtu.be/LUzcayxCbwQNot sure how I feel about this duet:https://youtu.be/j60_W4xQOUE
>>130112535radiohead but even poppierthe eno album is nothing special and people only pretend to like it because eno has his name on it
>>130112667Coldplay is much better in my taste and Radiohead tho.I think it is a gay vs. straight thing.
>>130112694than Radiohead*
>>130112535Wasted potential.
>>130112535Both them and radiohead stealed from u2's kfc bucket
Yellow is a really good song
>>130112535Aah yes, Coldplay, the band that wrote Yellow, The Scientist, Viva la Vida, and a bunch of other songs nobody cares about.
>>130113274wait, these are good songs
>>130113299He didn't say they weren't good songs, he said they're the only Coldplay songs people care about
>>130113305he wrote it in a dumb way
>>130112535I genuinely really love a few Coldplay songs. Yellow, The Scientist, Fix you, Clocks, Viva la Vida, Don't panic, Green eyes. I could throw in a couple others like Spies, A rush of blood to the head, and Hymn to the weekend on second tier, probably some I'm forgetting. I never listen to an entire Coldplay album but these songs just dont get old for me. The music videos are also very good for a lot of these songs Theyre a very repetitive, simple, and hypnotic type of pop songs but Chris Martin has this intense level of emotional openness I think, but combined with a feeling of elation and kindness, and the songs are just so pretty and soft. The songs literally make me want to be a nicer person and see beauty in the world, which is not something I tend to get from pop songs, or even honestly most music.
>>130112535I think they're tepid
Their first two albums are good
their early stuff is now nostalgic, they fell off after viva la vida though
>>130112535poor man's keane
>>130112535They used to be my favorite band for first 4 albums, the next one was my biggest musical disappointmentNow I prefer Elbow or Doves from similar bands>>130116733>KeaneOne hit wonder
>>130112535Hotwork
