how do you make it in music in the big 2019+7?
>>130129279are you a woman?
Marketing and networking has always been part of getting people to hear your music. Even the Beatles were playing in grimy bars in Germany before Epstein helped promote them
>>130129279Be content to be part of the underground and part of the local scene. I know "local scene" has a bad rep these days but I think it is healthier to be part of it than to humiliate yourself by making unfunny reels that had been done by trillion other bands.
>>130130216This. As Lemmy put it, "I'm gay and The Beatles were hard men".
Ive never used tiktok Instagram Snapchat whatever. I had a Facebook to keep in touch with people thats about it. Few years ago it donned on me that im at a severe loss for not trying to push the social media angle. Ive been songwriting minded for years thinking I just need to make truly good art but if id been posting little clips and building my persona it might play out better. Still logistically considering going for it but I dont even know how these services work, im 30 years old and ive always been 20 years older culturally
>>130129279Git gud
>>130130382being part of a local "scene" is equally humiliating
>>130130584It absolutely is not, you interact with real humans at least.
>>130130216Playing in grimy bars is far better than reels and shorts
>>130130584Only if you do humiliating shit like be one of the extra members in green jello who plays with the actual band for free or whatever but most scenes don't even offer anything that pathetic.Being a bar band is kind of depressing but nothing humiliating about it.>>130130584
