>"Something" was quickly followed by a number of cover versions. Frank Sinatra began performing the song live in 1971 and quickly went into the studio to cut a recorded version; for several years he incorrectly referred to the authors of the song as Lennon-McCartney until finally being corrected. He remarked that "Something" was "the greatest love song of the past 50 years." Harrison was not especially pleased with Sinatra's cover of his song. "I just didn't care about him. To me he was part of the generation before mine. I was much more interested in hearing James Brown or Shirley Ellis cover it." However, he eventually warmed to Sinatra's cover and by the early '90s had begun performing it live with the slightly altered lyrics of that version.
