i am fully convinced that this guy is an industry plant.

regardless, i think his music sucks. really cheesy, saccharine themes. sometimes even self-hating (that song "white privilege"). i don't like him.

damn he really hit the wall.
but his music sucks arse tho, instrumentally springsteen did it better and the lyrics (i remember) were just usual modern messaging. white=bad, men=should be in their feelings.

Are you convinced that every pop star is an industry plant? Are you also convinced that every rock band who is a household name or somewhat of a household name is an industry plant? - David Bowie, Queen, The Cure, Depeche Mode, Nirvana, Green Day, Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails, Nickelback, Sum 41, Simple Plan, Linkin Park, etc?

Do you want rock music / guitar based music to be popular or not? Why do you call anyone from the rock world who achieves popularity and success industry plant but give people like Olivia Rodrigo (who has the most PR and marketing on the planet) a pass?

Please take a step back and think about your thought process. Think how people literally never used the term "industry plant" with rock musicians pre-what... 2015 or so? I didn't hear it once in the 2000s. Not once. Stop following along and letting comments on youtube, reddit, 4chan form your new way of thinking regurgitating buzzwords.

"Industry plant" is not:

Somebody who gets a major record deal (even people on indie labels are called it)

Somebody who gets marketing from a record label. This is literally the point of a record label. To fund and get your music out there.

Somebody who gains popularity.

Stop calling Sam Fender, Geese, Wet Leg, The Last Dinner Party, etc industry plants. Do you rock to be popular or not? Normal people are completely unaware that these musicians exist, you do realize that, don't you? They are not popular. Rock is not popular. So stop trying to drag it from potentially becoming more popular.

Now you can go back to simping for the likes of Olivia's Rodrigo and Sabrina Carpenter, but still hate on Sombr btw because he's male.
