Yeah I know "lost media" is usually associated with cringe zoomers searching for 90s kids shows or whatever, but let's talk about lost music media that's actually interesting and deserves to be found, be they albums, songs, music videos, TV or radio performances, interviews, etc. What's your holy grail?
>>130140267Lost media zoomies tend to gravitate more towards lostwave than lost music from what I’ve seen
>>130140283They don't care about any lost/unidentified music unless it's 80s post-punk or synthpop
https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6k6m3zYou wanna see my holy grail of unfindable bullshit? Alright, here you go. @17:36If you want context, just watch the ep. Testees is a very funny show. But basically our two protags have been memory wiped by drugs and they've been tricked into believing they are a gay couple and that recreating their lifestyle will jog their memory.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMonlRsJ5hYNo one in the comments seems to know what this damn song is.
>>130140338Look harder dumbass
>>130140383I can't be bothered
>>130140403Oh my god it’s in the fucking description
>>130140421Nope. Not for me.
My holy grail is Gram Parsons and the Byrds at the Grand Ole Opry. For such a notorious bit of rock/country history, there doesn't seem to be any surviving audio or video record, at least nowhere online. Just a couple of photos. It could be hiding in plain sight and I'm just retarded, but everywhere I looked turned up nothing. Even when it was covered in the Ken Burns country music documentary they didn't use any footage, and if anyone could've gotten access it would been him. Maybe the Opry was so embarrassed that they wiped the tapes.
>>130140436In case you think I'm lying
Please can you lads help meThere's an album by Matt Lange as Altered Tensions called The Answer To The Question You Forgot To AskAnyway it had a bonus track called The Remix Between. But I just cannot find that bonus track.

There is a well known vocal interlude on Siamese Dream between Spaceboy and Sliverfuck of someone calling into some radio or tv show to talk about her partner masturbating https://youtu.be/e8VgQsWxAWo?t=238Thing is, no one has the full audio of this segment. No one knows where this clip is from, nor who this person is. Billy Corgan knows because he got clearance for it to be on the record, potentially having the whole recording, but apparently part of the agreement to use it is he cannot reveal where it is from so that is a dead end.
The Bobby Kimball sessions for Toto's Isolation album. Kimball got fired during the recording process and replaced by Fergie Frederiksen. But Kimball apparently did vocals for all but 1 or 2 of the songs which ended up on the album. Only 'Lion' has been released, though:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2oIkXfPNf3E
Not lost, or semi-lost perhaps, but the GP guy reminded me of this.In 1967, The Velvet Underground performed/hacked talentlessly on a variety-type television show called Upbeat. Now here's the thing with TVU: even half-decent film/video footage of the group is extremely rare, and the few spotty reels and clips that exist have basically worthless sound (if there's any audio at all). This is of course not uncommon for underground acts at the time, but it is nevertheless rather conspicuous and bittersweet today when their influence is so vast and their popularity so enduring. This performance, then, would be the only known professionally shot (color!) footage of the band, still with John Cale, which makes it even more enticing. Plus, they're playing a song that wouldn't see official release until the mid-'80s, hinting at a path not taken since the format of the show was designed to showcase singles.Alas, this era of Upbeat has survived only in fragments. As was common practice in those days, the expensive video tapes were usually wiped and reused, and besides, who was archiving pop music? In any case, the band clearly didn't make much of an impression; the only bits of information that trickled out over the decades were fuzzy fanzine recollections and vague, dismissive comments by Sterling Morrison. Then, in 2014, this surfaced:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GU2UNyDoN_M...and, likely due to its inaccurate title, was not picked up by VU fans for years. They cross-checked the audio with the few available bootlegs and quickly concluded that this was a unique version. But who or what was the source of this rather astonishing discovery? It gets even weirder: the associated YT account has *thousands* of videos, the majority being contemporary political news clips with views in the single digits (schizo alert). No other VU or Lou Reed content. People have tried to reach out to this person but he has never responded, despite persisting with his regular uploads.

>>130142650>Double Helix - The Butterfly EffectI’d also like to hear this
>>130140565Why would they be embarrassed?
>>130140267>What's your holy grail?Nazi recordings of trad folk music from Scandinavia/Nordic from the 1930s.It's very hard to find genuine recordings from that time frame considering it was also the final years of the old farmer communities that no longer exist in Sweden.
>>130140601I might actually email the artist because I can't find it
>>130140304Because 80s music is peak and the fact that it's in very limited supply makes every lost 80s song invaluable, and often comes in kino physical formats and a cool backstory. Post-2000s lost music is just not interesting at all, I don't give a shit about the countless 2000s myspace pages lost.
my personal holy grail is the third minecraft album.. supposedly its made fully but c418 cant release it due to licensing shit and him not wanting to give up the rights of his music to microsoft (based), idk if its lost per se but its my most anticipated piece of unreleased media out there
https://youtu.be/LWN0vQpwcKM?si=v4Xw27ZL7AAfARhnthe fazers sample that starts at 0:06 has still not been found
Now that Stay (the second time around), EKT and TMS have been found, this is the trve final boss of 80s lostwave and probably will never ever be found because of the language barrier and the fact that Japs don't care about media preservation at all https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-zFa1NuU5s
>>130145384The Byrds were constantly getting booed and heckled throughout the set and they broke the rules and pissed off the producers by playing different songs that what were announced. After that they were banned from ever coming back on the show.
>>130140267Not exactly lost but unknown. Fat nigga bops was the 4chan post I saw this, never seen it posted again. Its a serious masterpiece.
>>130140267Most thrift stores contain at least one LP, tape, or CD which has never been digitized. You could register an account on archive.org, buy a $20 USB interface, and digitize something new every week. I still do it from time to time myself, but I got salty when youtube deleted my archival channel. I uploaded about 40 tapes from an 80s meditation cult and they copyright nuked me. My rips on archive.org have a couple hundred views after 4 years. On jewtube, they got thousands and thousands within weeks
Zoltan was found along with a music video for it.Only 5/6 singers in it have been identified though.
>>130148922Which ones made numbers? Was there a pattern?
>>130152205My most successful videos were a bunch of tapes from a Hindu sex cult, and a lot of the viewers were Indians who are still down for that
I'd love to get my hand on Joaquin Phoenixs' rap album. The movie about it's making has always been super fucking funny.
not lost but i would love a high-quality version of https://youtu.be/ljCZt6GKIzkone of the best mixes but a very overcompressed upload.
