Only noticed that musical ability seems to affect music preference. Stole this observation from some study, but people who sing out of tune and consider it magic if you can clink out a tune by ear on the piano and stuff tend to dislike instrumental stuff, for whatever reason. That includes smart people. Some people I know seem to get bored and often turn songs off during instrumental sections. Maybe hearing the emotion in the voice is really important to them or something.
