>>130153200i like this more than the original. a very detailed background that's more interesting to look at, there's an actual logo instead of a basic font, and the dude meditating no longer looks like he had half his body dipped in piss. this looks really nice.

>>130156925Heh, I listened to that last month. For me, it's "Evil Is At Hand".
"Metal" is okay, but what I really like is good music with metal delivery.

>>130156925starts off a bit slow with the first two songs but afterwards it picks up and doesn't stop 'til the end. i also really like the guitar tone, kind of reminds me of early manowar.

>>130165173It's so good it makes you want to push someone down stairs.

https://youtu.be/aMgPlbrCHsw?si=s434FEN3D4ELKhRUQuite a metallic song from their sellout era
I just looked over the 1998 albums and holy moly it's so much kino.
https://youtu.be/y6Pq5H0odaI?t=191I love this guitar sound so much it's unreal. I don't know what it is, multi-tracked, layered, hyper-distorted, harmonized or whatever, it sounds awesome.>>130167515Were they ever not a sellout band?
>>13016751510/10 album. Not a single weak song.
>>130169856>Were they ever not a sellout band?yeah, their first two albums. i remember reading that one of the main guitarists for europe left after wings of tomorrow because the rest of the band wanted to start playing more commercial.
>>130165765saxon's been added>>130166790thanks, changed it to the leaf hound cover

>>130169985Nightwish - Angels Fall First ?Might as well add Children of Bodom - Something Wild. It's speed metal with harsh vocals. >>130156925What a badass fucking song.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPG_0Sgv5Zw
>>130171035>Nightwish - Angels Fall Firstalright>Might as well add Children of Bodom - Something Wild.nope, stays vetoed
>>130169931Not quite true. John Norum left because he thought the music became to poppy, he was uncomfortable with the glam image and he thought the keyboards took too much space. But it's not as if his two first solo albums were much less commercial than Europe's album after The Final Countdown.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQhPm45olpghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhV7DEmLgMY
https://youtu.be/1TPrgNtGQEQ?si=BK-dxLMqpg7GnQge
>>130172118It's funny that he bailed on Europe for supposedly being too poppy but then Love Is Meant to Last Forever is just a shitty rewrite of The Final Countdown. iirc Joey Tempest savaged him at the time in Kerrang! or Metal Hammer over that. His second solo album, Face the Truth, is excellent btw. He really locks into Gary Moore/John Sykes mode and has Glenn Hughes singing on it.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ii94fADdoDY&https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GoBmnjGnDKc&https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7j-3AST30BE&
I never liked Tank and Jaguar. Too punky and the riffs don't quite hit. I prefer Angel Witch, Holocaust, Satan, Tygers of Pan Tang, Diamond Head (the non-wussy songs), and Grim Reaper. Bands that lean towards a more "metal" sound.
>>130172118Europe won a record deal in one of those talent shows back in the early 80's. Show was called "Rock-SM". Might not be as bad as being part of let's say Idol, but not far from it either.Rock-SM was run by Aftonbladet (tabloid-esque "newspaper") and the record label Hot Records.
Early heavy metal (up to 1980) kind of sucks. It's hard to find something I like. Sabbath, Priest, Rainbow, Motorhead, Bedemon, Pentagram are all good and the exception. The rest sounds just like rock music, lame, there is no difference between it and "hard rock". Might as well say Boston and Journey are "metal" at that point. Things got better in 1980 with Iron Maiden, Angel Witch, Tygers of Pan Tang, Witchfynde, Saxon, Diamond Head - when a real metal sound emerged. The rest, like Samson and Quartz, sounds just like rock, even Def Leppard. Never got into Scorpions either for the same reason. Even Diamond Head has only a few good songs and the rest are sappy rock songs. The same with Judas Priest, some killers but interspersed with rock music. This trend continued until 1983 when metal decided to go all out on aggression.
>>1301580361998. That's how.
>>130169985Bruce Dickinson - Accident of Birth
>>130175984The more metal strays away from blues the better it is.
>>130176018It's not that simple, Sabbath, Electric Wizard, early Sleep, Blind Dog absolutely kill even though they're rooted in pentatonic blues sound, while still being really heavy.
>>13017598470s metal just sounds so tame to me. I don't dislike it or anything, but I really wish I enjoyed it more than I do. I honestly don't listen to a lot of early 80s stuff either.
>>130176055There are a lot of gems in early 80s metal: Satan, Accept, Holocaust, Warlord, Angel Witch, Maiden, Raven, Saxon, Omen. Most of it sounds a bit primitive compared to what came later, but they set the template for Heavy Metal, a template that remained unchanged until today - barring some modern production changes. Other bands it takes a special mood get into (Tank, Jaguar). It's interesting to see what bands came up with before speed and thrash took over.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHDkWG_o2VMhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dHCAD95i5IUI know they're not identical but they're pretty much the same riff
>>130152844Can you save the charts as jpg instead of png? It would make them a lot smaller in size. Png is not suitable compression for this kind of image, png is for simple shit with a few colors. For efficient compression of art jpg should be used. Use convert imagemagick tool to convert them.
>>130176139What's the problem, can't handle a few megabytes?
>>130176166My browser can't. >>130175416I take back what I said about Tank. After the opener with the weird riff this album has some good stuff on it.
>>130176185What the fuck are you using, Internet Explorer?
USPM fags condescendingly call European metal "flower metal" while listening listen to shit like this (sounds like Green Day - American Idiot):https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B10qbIcx0bIUSPM faggots are the biggest insecure posers I have ever seen. Just call it Power Metal. Here's European Power Metal, btw:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ftP03R9pdc
>>130176398Flower metal isn't about EUPM in general, it's about stuff like this.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sw9bRT-ezZAhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TyvZ1-JGPKwhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvV5pGylNMYAnd this is coming from somebody that likes EUPM and even flowery power metal.
>>130176423Dude are you kidding me, those Freedom Call and Sonata Arctica songs are awesome. That Power Quest sounds a lot like DragonForce. Extremely catchy chorus.
>>130175416>Tank too punkyFor me it's not punky enough, I mostly like the fast songs. What do you think about Warfare btw?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Azj8TAqx-rk
>>130176438Like I said, I love EUPM, but the sound is correctly described as "flowery", it's super sweet and light.
>>130176438Also, Power Quest was founded by a former DragonForce keyboardist, so you're spot on.
>>130176444Sounds like punky thrash, like angrier Motorhead or punkier Tank.
>>130176457I refuse to accept the term "flowery" for something that just sounds musical or uplifting. It's like calling all minor key metal gloomy.
>>130176398Holy cherry picking. I thought we all knew that Feeling Free Again is probably the worst song on that album.
Diamond Head is so inconsistent. How is it possible for the same band to make a heavy rocker like this:https://youtu.be/AsxvxnSSv5s?t=26and the rest of the album is wussy or commercial shit like this?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gk6czN0PCAchttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nXKYvZMsZwhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-EDk8Cr14GIAlso it looks like they blew their creative load in 1980 and that was it, they didn't release much original material after.
>>130176770There are a lot of bands like that desu, who have maybe 2-3 actually good songs per album with the rest being filler.
>>130176796Stop avatarfagging with tranime.
Def Leppard is lame. This is how heavy metal is supposed to sound:https://youtu.be/eoY1ALB37NQ?t=35
>>130176869Wasted is by far Def Leppard's best song
>>130176398>>130176423>>130176438>>130176457>>130176493Power Symphony's Lightbringer, to me, is the ultimate example of Flower Metal:https://youtu.be/ibPK-2WsUKoFlower Metal, while kinda kitsch, isn't necessarily terrible, but shit like Power Symphony is utterly horrendous. Bands like Stratovarius, Rhapsody of Fire or Sonata Arctica are fine. YMMV for bands like Symphony X (American, yes) or later Helloween, but they're fine at their peak.
Went to Keep it True a few weeks ago.I always thought the "diapershitter" stuff was a meme but DOZENS of the attendees were wearing diapers and some were even discussing which ones to wear at a concert and shit like that.It wasn't even older metalheads, it was everyone. There was also a diaperfur in a FULL FURSUIT that included a battlevest that had furryfied bandnames (Blacked Shepherd and shit like that for example) on them and a big "King Dogknot" backpatch with a furry KD on it. And you know what was the worst about this? Everyone accepted that abomination with open arms!
>>130177022There's nothing wrong with that song. It sounds heavier than "USPM" and the guitars are clear and riffy in a speed metal way. You're an idiot.
>>130177022>later HelloweenLater Helloween is heavier than the Keepers albums.
