Why do boomers say DL sold out on Hysteria when this album's filled with synths and drum machines? If anything Hysteria sounds more stripped down
>>130158767Production sounds too well produced for hard rock
>>130158767>NOOOOOOOOO! YOU CAN'T JUST HAVE YOUR MUSIC SOUND GOOD! THAT'S SELLING OUT!
>>130159097See what matters is if the songwriting is good
>>130159097They cant cope man they cant even think for themselves
>>130159097Lars Ulrich has said one intelligent thing in his life, and that was explaining why they made the Black Album, and how thee band that felt that making Master of Puppets 2.0 just to please the fans would kill their souls. Instead they wanted to make something different rather than placating everyone, and somewhat ironically got accused of selling out while doing the exact opposite.
>>130158767>drum machinesThe drummer's capacity was reduced hence the drum machines.
>>130158767Real ones know that they sold out on their second song "Hello America" on their debut album "On Through the Night". It's only their debut EP that is any good.
>>130159097spbppeople will bitch about literally anything.
Both Hysteria and Pyromania are great records, People who snivel "sell out!" are to be ignored. If I was a musician and some buttblasted loser didn't like the fact that my shit had mainstream appeal, I'd be like "fuck you, pay my bills">reeeeee they used drum macheeeeeeensliterally every mainstream rock drummer in the 80s was, to a greater or lesser degree, using drum machines and/or programmed drums.1984 by Van Halen? yeah everything but the cymbals were programmed.Love at First Sting? myuh-huh.Power Windows by Rush? yup.nobody cares.
>>130158767why did the term "software-defined drumming" never take hold?
>>130160877>1984 by Van Halen? yeah everything but the cymbals were programmed.alex's weird half electronic setup from 1984-OU812 sounds cool to me, though no one else likes it and i understand why. i think it sounds cool when he does fills on it
>>130160877>literally every mainstream rock drummer in the 80s was, to a greater or lesser degree, using drum machines and/or programmed drums.Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, Dio and Iron Maiden did not.
>>130160967you're not alone. It sounded cool and fit the music of the era.I mean even those little fills in I'll Wait sound cool
>>130161337>Sabbath Ozzy Dio and Maiden>mainstream rock
