I want to try my first magnetoplanar headphones, I was thinking to buy the Audeze Monolith. Thoughts? Are they worth it? I already have a big audio system with 4 speakers, I want some high end cans as well. Give me your honest opinion.

I have cheap planars but they sound great, imagine the quality still goes up, but i dunno where the price/quality cutoff would be on planars

i just bought the hifiman edition xs and they sound amazing, listening on the first day reminded me of the first time I swtiched from AV to hdmi cables. had to buy an amp for them but I think you can use without just might not get everything out of it. I didn't buy specifically for the magnetic planar stuff but they are great headphones feels like you're inside the music very comfortable as well but i have a huge head so idk

I owned these and it's not worth it. They sound good but the build quality is so shitty and like me, you may end up with a pair that gives off a high-pitched sound in one of the drivers. I use Hifiman planars now, I like them much more and in the same price range.

funny and original
many reviews on amazon and youtube point out this design flaw, buy at you are own risk

theres not much use for headphones if you have speakers. at least with iems you get noise isolation. i have all three of them and i mostly use speakers and iems

hifiman he400se
cheap af but made me realize it can go a lot higher in quality so im def upgrading to at least an $800 pair soon.
also currently only running it through a shitty fiio dongle, gonna get a stack as well for full power.
also, the open back design creates such a nice soundstage. i still enjoy blasting through my chinkshit iems which are basically mono in comparison but it all works pretty swell
