>>130174039Troon please begone
>>130174039Very prolific lyrics were spot on every song but alot of the songs music sucked overallHail The New Dawn should be in everyone's music collection
>>130173896It's pretty amazing how the music flows well with the lyrics. It's basic (most of their ballads are just A E G C) but it just works. I actually dislike the way their sound changed when Stigger joined.Too bad my youtube channel got rekt when I uploaded rare concerts and studio outtakes.
>>130175382ya - jewtube deleted my channel in 2019 when i posted The Showdown. Martin Cross > Stigger. such a shame he went down the path he did - he was probably Skrewdriver's most kickass guitarist
>>130175526Agreed. Martin was also pretty good in Razors Edge.
>>130175526I don't know what happened on White Diamond, but the first album has utterly awful production. Funnily enough, Warlord got better by the time Stigger released Ascension.Yeah, Stigger-era Skrewdriver had its ups and serious downs. Freedom What Freedom is genuinely great, but The Strong Survive has maybe two good tracks and a bunch of lame filler; nothing half as abominable as that "Back in Black" cover. That song removed, Warlord is a much better album. Funnily enough, Skrewdriver is no stranger to covers. Most fans don't know this, but "The Way It's Got to Be" is a cover of the song by The East End Badoes:https://youtu.be/6tkYGbejFkIhttps://youtu.be/bJi-2m48PNY
>>130172629way better rac bands kek
>>130176613>Skrewdriver is no stranger to coversIt's actually pretty surprising to see that Ian had so many classic rock/rock'n roll influences and yet you really don't feel it at all in his music.Pic related is a bootleg of all their covers, and the retards printed the band as Screwdriver. They had to add a vertical bar with a sharpie on the front and back of each album to turn the C in a K. Must have taken quite some time.>WarlordTheir peak album along with White Rider, IMHO.
>>130177252My problem with White Rider is that it's exhaustingly bombastic despite great tunes like the title track, "The Snow Fell", "I Can See the Fire" and the new version of "Built Up, Knocked Down". Ian clearly had a vision of where he wanted to take the band but lacked the compositional skills and production values to actualize it which became especially apparent on each subsequent album; moments of greatness beset by horrible tunes. Most of Skrewdriver's covers are terrible, but rare moments where Ian and friends did better than the originals include "Road to Valhalla" and "The Way It's Got to Be". A surprising number of fans don't know that song is a cover of White Lion. The original was fucking awful:https://youtu.be/2PxV2WQ6DCkhttps://youtu.be/w5qWbMpJ9HI
Beaten at their own game by a joke band from romper stomperhttps://youtu.be/ml_5C7xBhAA?si=8sCW4YkWe-dliFWshttps://youtu.be/27fnt2DsoeM?si=blib7FkzO_9wOdouhttps://youtu.be/_kCVjHnpitc?si=62um11wBUsZTNR0-
>>130172673What? Skrewdriver sounds nothing like Burzum.>>130177496It's a shame the Romper Stomper soundtrack is like thirty tracks of boring orchestral score and then the songs you posted. It's a different genre anyway. Skrewdriver lives and dies on whether you like this sort of bluesey, Rolling Stones-era hard rock they do. Later bands from the 90s and 00s tend to fall on the more metal or hardcore side of things, which I like a lot more. Skrewdriver's too dad rock for me.
>>130177391>"I Can See the Fire"this one is such a banger it's unreal.actually catchy, actually good lyrics.>>130172629>Why Were They So Good? because they don't sound like RAC, or no RAC band managed to sound like them
because they weren't terminally pretentious like all the other artfag punk shitters at the time, neither gay like the hardcore homos
