i've listened to them several times and i don't get their appeal
>>130179485what's your headspace like when you do that?are you trying to relate it to rock music in general or trying to see it as it's own thing
>>130179485Listen to Bathory’s s/t
>>130179485you need to lay down your soul
>>130179485Try "Welcome to Hell", which is the better version of the stuff they did on "Black Metal". It's also their first album so you start over fresh. They clicked for me when I watched live footage of them at Hellfest I think it was 2023. Their live performance was metal as can get, but their studio releases always sound underwhelming even when you get to enjoy them. There were better speed metal and early black metal bands during the eighties that did or did not take inspiration from Venom. And imma be real honest for a second here: apart from "Welcome to Hell" and "Black Metal", I think the rest of their discography is at best very average.
>>130179485Its 1982 and judas priest scorpions and def leppard are the mainstream, metallica's kill em all didn't come out yet, slayer was still a judas priest cover band. Then you have this band called Venom that puts this album out which at the time was very extreme and nothing like other metal bands at the time
>>130179485I found their singles comp to be better desu
Maybe you're a lame ass poser?

>>130179485Do you already some background in metal or is your knowledge of the genre still surface level? Because Venom are the beginning of extreme metal and it's understandable that a newcomer to the genre would not immediately appreciate bands in that vein.
