In the beginning of the letter he apologizes for being so woke and pc. He said those words because back then homophobia was insanely high, kids were being beaten in schools for being gay, let me point out, just gay! So he kind of had to say those things, it was very much needed. I don't think that if Kurt somehow managed to survive he would have advocated for leftist views. The guy liked guns, liked cars , and had a terrible problem with order and authoritary figures, which eventually led him to trivialize his destructive habits. Also his obsession with the santity of women was very very toxic for his mind. He was never loved by neither of his parents, the only person who truly cared about him was his first girlfriend Tracy. He sacrificed his relationship with her in order to grow his art, and in the end he sacrificed himself. I can only imagine the regret.
