Is Crowbar the best metal band? I don't get the usual ick when listening to metal when i hear them. And pretty much every album i heard was good.
I've only listened to the one that you posted, where do I go next ?
>>130197686Based Crowbar appreciator. They’re fucking great. Kirk can basically do no wrong in my eyes. Crowbar’s discography is overall great, with only a few sub par albums. My Top Five in order are... 1. Sever the Wicked Hand 2. Sonic Excess In It’s Purest Form 3. The Serpent Only Lies 4. Symmetry In Black 5. Odd Fellows Rest
We got a Crowbar thread on /mu/?!? Let’s go Bar Bros!
>>130197686They aren’t the best metal band ever, but literally no one else sounds like them in the scene, so I’d say that is the superior compliment.
>>130197995You're not wrong I just listened to a couple of songs for the first time... what a sound!
>>130197762"Obedience Thru Suffering" is the superior album, not specifically because it's their first and rawest and most powerful, but it checks all the boxes for a legendary album from the production to the songwriting. The drum sound and patterns are insanely good. Then the best of modern Crowbar might be "Sonic Excess ..." where all that makes both a good album and a good Crowbar album is present. If you want the best of today's Crowbar, the album is getting a bit old now but still relevant is "Sever the Wicked Hand" which is super clean and contains a lot of bangers and what makes the identity of the current band.>>130197686Arguably one of the best ever, for sure, but it's my opinion. It's a man's band more than a metalhead's band, I think is the reason.
I haven't heard anything past Lifesblood for the Downtrodden. I should probably change that. Everything they released up to that point at least is great.
>>130197686Based Obese Metal.
>>130198487Agreed. Well said.
