Political songs can be cool, when your whole band is just doing political social justice songs, it’s lame. There’s no meat to it. There’s no humanity. A band like Rage Against The Machine has cool songs but they won’t actually say anything if it’s just >UGH the government is bad and RACISM is worseyou have to have some humanity along with your activism
>>130206712A lot of political songs can be bad in a rushed, angsty, cliched ranting sort of way. Cringy socialist larper political blurb sort of stuff. It's okay to be that but at least try to weave in some metaphors or poetry.Rage Against the Machine is actually kind of an exception because they do angsty cringe socialist larper stuff but it actually worked for them when it usually doesn't for everyone else. Maybe it's because Zack de la Rocha actually had rage, it wasn't just in the name. Bono is cringe for example but he was actually pissed off about some stuff that was happening in 1983. Music really deals at the level of feelings. You gotta mean what you say if you're going to be up there shouting political slogans.https://youtu.be/EM4vblG6BVQ

>>130207757A lot of the popular rock artists of the early 90s had some glowie/political ties it seems
>>130206712Of all the left-wing bands out there, why is RATM the one that gets people upset? They haven't been relevant in almost 30 years.
>>130207787It's the hypocrisy....
