What was his best/worst opinion?
>>
>>130207995
Remember when /mu/ loved Pitchfork? That shit sucked lmao
>>
best: hating low effort crescendocore like GY!BE
worst: liking J&MC
>>
1. Don't know who that is
2. Doesn't matter what anybody ever thinks about anything
3. Everybody's opinion about music is bad except for me because my taste is perfect for me specifically because I AM me
>>
>>130207995
>hfw you mention you like "The Chameleons"
>>
>>130207995
best: Other Music being the worst music-related documentary ever
worst: having blind love for generic Boston-area indie bands (Lemonheads, Letters to Cleo) when he'll criticize very similar bands from other areas of the country
>>
>>130208018
At least we had an identity then, a culture, if you will. Do you see this shit now? Fucking nonstop landfill pop artist spam
>>
>>130208023
actually his worst opinion is thinking Our Swimmer by Wire isn't good
>>
>>130208083
>>
>>130207995
worst for me is saying that tortoise sucks
>>
>>130207995
>"If anyone asks you if you've heard of a band or heard a record, I mean, just delete that person from your life. When people ask me that, I invariably say no, whatever the case may be. And if they start to recommend it to me, I tell them it doesn't really sound like my kind of thing. "

>young man who is shouting at 15 year old clouds is triggered by old men complaining about today's clouds
Epic, simply Epic
>>
>>130207995
I'm so glad I'm not stupid enough to know anything about this asshole's opinions, but also saddened that I know who it is because of /mu/.
>>
>>130210191
Alright, what band did he shit on for you?
>>
>>130208025
I mean folks... Where's the lie?
>>
best
>ASMR has a more authentic and creative scene than any genre going currently.

worst
>BRADFORD COX MUST SHOW BALDO WHORE THE RESPECT SP HAS EARNED!!!!
>>
>>130208025
so why post?
>>
>>130207995
One of his best is about late 90's-early 00's Fall being great
https://youtu.be/RFtWOq-rkIw
>>
>>130207995
Best: Velvet top hat
Worst: Liking metal Ministry better than bleep Ministry. Especially that weak ass cover of Supernaut
>>
>>130207995
That Slowdive were rich kid coat tail riders, and that Pygmalion is their best album
>>
>>130211828
both best opinions btw
>>
>>130211385
Liking Penistry at all while deriding NiN just seems petty.
(Idk if he actually hates NiN but I get that impression)
>>
>>130212040
he does. theater kid bullshit
>>
>>130213047
Yeah I remember his comments like "NiN was for the AV kids", but idk if there's genuine ire there. My impression is that fans of muh real industrial hate that NiN got 30x bigger than Skinny Puppy.
>>
>>130207995
he was right to shit on basinski
but he also got filtered by red house painters pretty hard
>>
Him saying late period Fugazi sounded like "Bruce Springsteen" was funny

I like how this guy thinks and talks about music, I know he's considered pretentious but he's got an interesting brain.
>23 year old
>>
never seen this guy before, what's his deal?
>>
>>130214403
Hes /ourguy/
>>
>>130207995
Not really an opinion, but there's a clear abstention on his part from making any sort of negative comment about newer acts because he doesn't want to be the old man shitting on the youth of today, even if it's merited. Kind of gay and cowardly.
>>
>>130207995
Does he like Metal?
>>
>>130216054
the non macho kind like killing joke
>>
>>130216427
Killing Joke isn't metal in any shape or form. I'm talking about real metal like Slayer and Darkthrone
>>
>>130216453
definitely not

I haven't put anything he's aid in my memory. Except that Erasure - A Little Respect has the greatest chorus of all time or something like that.
>>
>>130209928
somebody posted this in the last ott thread too. He clearly meant when somebody's being condescending or snobby. In that case that is a good response, better than just "shut the fuck up" or "stop talking to me". If somebody's being genuine then being like that is just antisocial
>>130213175
oh yeah lol. Him saying Broken Social Scene sounds like Ryan Adams was a pretty funny take too. Don't see that connection at all
>>
>>130214403
wrote for pitchfork in the way early days, quit in like 01 or 02 or something, did other music writing after
He made a series of videos starting in maybe 2011 or 12? Where he just talked about music and shit on writers, lots of hate towards pitchy and the way music publications work. It's called Shallow Rewards if you wanna look it up, he deleted them forever ago but they always get re-upped by somebody.
He's definitely very opinionated and has some annoying takes, but his videos were interesting because he just was a person actively engaged with the more hip music world back then and gave his perspective as such, as opposed to just hearing about all that stuff online through the lens of publications. He's def a bit snobby but desu he's self aware and critical about snobby hipster shit, and seems like a genuine music loving dork instead of some phoney indie trender. Take everything he says with a grain of salt but his videos are good and desu there's nothing else that really talks about music that way, worth checking out
>>
/mu/ is very, very stupid.
>>
>>130217361
True that, cannot beat that chorus.
>>
>>130218859
Very observant, this one.
>>
>>130216427
Killing Joke could be macho when they wanted to

You're not as clever and unique as you think you are.

being clever and unique is not part of the continuum
