The Strokes were the last rock band that truly mattered.

You should be raped by a horse without lubrication for having this opinion

*ahem*
>>
Mac Demarco was huge culturally, at least if you lived in a blue state. Went and saw them live and the town went insane
>>
>>130210641
Thank god I don't!
>>
>>130210638
Juanes is good
>>
>>130210611
>overprivileged heir of MAGA trash pedo
>had one good album, astroturfed to shit
"mattered"... yeah no

LMAO it's as if MAGA's favorite anchor baby Barron started a rock band.
>>
>>130210722
This.
>>
Wrong. You losers all think that "mattering" and "relevance" is about popularity rather than artistic quality, and it's pathetic.
>>
>>130210611
When I was young I played in a band that played some strokes covers, they sound OK in the records; but I never liked playing them live, didn't sound good
>>
>>130210611
You are having a stroke
>>
>>130210611
Knowing who his dad was pretty much negates anything they ever did
>>
>>130210651
Thank god you live in an extremely poor state with nonexistent infrastructure?
>>
>>130210941
Relevance is absolutely about popularity.
>>
>>130211245
You desperately thought you were funny
>>
>>130211260
It's not funny, just true.
>>
>>130211245
At least i know Mac Demarco wont come here.
>>
>>130211282
Fair.
>>
>>130210611
This cracker hasn’t heard FFDP
>>
>>130211255
To shallow little bitches, sure, but not to patricians.
>>
>>130210611
I was in high school when Is This It? was released. Nobody but me and a few other hipster nerds even knew who The Strokes were.
>>
Actually that would be Queens of the Stone Age
>>
>>130210611
I heard most of their Coachella set.
they're good.
I really only knew their hits before that.
having a good singer goes a long way, and he probably wasn't even best part, the others were all time flight musicians.
>>
>>130211462
Fucking this also Avenged Sevenfold. The strokes are only the last rock band if you have bitch ass taste
>>
>>130210611
Reptilia is their only good song
>>
>>130210635
Fpbp. The Strokes suck ass.
>>
>>130211245
It'll be great Fagifornia sinks into the ocean and takes you with it, you cringe retard
>>
>>130210611
>Alright lads, let's all pile into the shitter for this one.
>>
>>130211423
Well, yeah, but when the patricians are all dead their favourite bands will be forgotten. It's already starting, most of the 60s and 70s bands other than the megabands are already seriously obscure. Years from now the VU will only be discussed in college courses called "20th Century Avant-Garde Music" and the like, with average attendances of maybe eight if it's raining. If it makes you feel any better, the bands the shallow little bitches like will fade way faster, most of them have a half-live measured in months.

very embarrassing troll attempt turned into a lethal dose of cringe by samefagging
>>
>>130210611
Eagles of Death Metal mattered for week
>>
I actually don’t listen to bands with trust fund babies in them. Not real music. Rich kids and art don’t mix.
>>
>>130210611
Yes but they made it official that rock was dead so the only thing left was to feed on its cultural corpse, through retro style crafting
>>
>>130213996
Many are saying this
>>
not true at all. Geese, King Gizzard, Black Midi, and Angine de Poitrine (just to name a few) have been making important contributions to the medium and are arguably more influential than The Strokes
>>
>>130214335
Geese have done nothing important, and never will. They may end up being influential though, which will be a disaster for rock music going forward.
>>
>>130210611
The bm guys and Gilla Band are pretty well-regarded among the underground
>>
>>130214388
If they influence a generation to simply pick instruments up we've won

Vines bros, we've lost.
>>
>>130220016
As always. They never won anything but that shitty magazine cover. "Rock is back!"....fuck you.
>>
>>130213996
maybe society's artists are supposed to come from the so-called leisure class that has enough time to study how that particular medium works.

all I am concerned about as a listener (of rock music) is whose guitar and drums bounce off each other in the coolest way and the strokes are top flight.

I think you are probably asking too much of art if you want it to address and redress your political feelings that some people have too much and some not enough, ect.

>>130210611
Kings of Leon innit?

wrong, it was The Stripes and QOTSA
>>
>>130211260
look at statistics
facts don't care about your feelings
>>
You fags are always talking about "the last good rock band" or "the last relevant rock album ever" such defeatist bullshit
>>
Why you disrespecting the late Josh Home like that?
>>
>>130211462
>Queens of the Stone Age
QOTSA had albums out before the Strokes,
>>130220116 so did the White Stripes.
The Killers, Kings of Leon, and Arctic Monkeys are all slightly after
