are there any current bands doing shit remotely as interesting and innovative as Angine de Poitrine?
>>
>wearing polka dots is interesting and innovative
>>
>>130216424
name something better then
>>
>>130216420
why are these hacks getting popular, what youtuber made a video about them?
>>
>>130216438
my band. we never released anything, there's only one bootleg cassette from the only show we ever played in my cousin's basement. you aren't cool enough to hear it, sorry.
>>
>>130216484
>what youtuber made a video about them?
all of them
>>
There was like maybe a week where I listened to them. After that week the novelty wore off and I do not want to listen to them again.
>>
>>130216526
that sounds fun to listen to
>>
>>130216484
they've got enough of a schtick to entertain the masses. The silly outfits are fun for people who want something wacky and weird, and the mathy stuff is fun for music dorks with not much taste
It's never the really good stuff that gets popular like this
>>
>>130216420
These guys are downstream from One size fits all
>>
Cryptic Shift
>>
is the interesting and innovative shit in the room with us?
>>
are these the newest saviours of guitar music after animals as leaders and polyphia?
>>
>>130216438
me
>>
>>130216420
>interesting and innovative
you didn't say good and actually enjoyable music, because it's not.
sure some cool riffs here and there, but whatever. it's really the ultimate YT soijak band
>>
>>130216526
your cousin made a copy of that cassette for me and you guys are quite derivative and boring actually
>>
>>130216420
>/mu/ hates them already
This board is clown shoes
>>
>>130216420
Do these guys actually have staying power or will they be another 100 gecs where they were hailed as the BAND OF THE FUTURE and now no one even thinks about them?
>>
The dude with the nose must be using that on some freaky shit.

>>
>>130222478
I'm not the one who listens to industry plants so no
>>
>>130216420
What's innovative about it?
>>
>>130222677
it contains nothing new, just a fun package
>>
>>130222677
>>130223618
post some microtonal math rock that existed prior to Angine de Poitrine then
>>
>>130223998
I'm being genuine here, if you can point out some Angine de Poitrine zones where the microtonal elements are more than a device within a generally 12TET composition then I'll admit I'm wrong. From the set I watched on youtube it never ventured away from that, and in that case it's no different from Nick Reinhart putting on a wacky pitch shifter
People like Harry Partch used microtonality in a way that attempted to break free from 12TET compositions, that's just an extreme example, but it provides a reference to point out that most bands dabbling in microtonality use it as just an effect to decorate 12TET. There's nothing wrong with that, it can be sick, I just wouldn't call it new or innovating. Especially in this case since it's just a matter of tools, using a microtonal guitar instead of pedals
>>
>>130223998
Japan's math rock scene is full of shit like that
>>
>>130223998
Tricot mogs.
