Is Red Hot Chili Peppers the worst band of all time?
>>
>>130226027
Red Slop Child Predators
>>
>>130226027
Nah they at least have a couple good songs. Puddle of Mudd is worst
>>
>>130226027

they are the worst band that actually has talented members
>>
>>130226027
how do you hate this?
https://youtu.be/C4bbUPYMhP8
>>
>>130226027
They have the worst vocalist and guitarist of all time
>>
>>130226027
John’s solo career is better than them
>>
>>130226027
They are a band that is less than the sum of its parts.
>>
i dont get the extreme hate they get from people, i dont hate or like them, they are just a band to me.

also soul to squeeze and under the bridge are kino
>>
>>130226027
They’re overhated. Yeah Anthony Kiedis is a cringelord but they’ve still put out a lot of good music. Plus they seem like genuinely good dudes who just want to put out good energy in the world
>>
>>130226163
>Kiedis
>talented
>>
>>130226027
Overhated, I've always liked them if you can't find enjoyment in the grooves they put together over the years then you just might be a potent faggot homosexual. Sorry dude. Sure Anthony is strange and maybe coasting off the success of his bandmates and maybe he doesn't write great lyrics most of the time BUT HE SOUNDS FUN and the rest of the band are objectively great players. Sir Psycho Sexy is my favourite song by them
>>
>>130226027
idk about "worst band of all time" but i seem to organically hate them more and more the older i get.
>>
>>130226027
for the longest time, i thought it was a band that's all about gay sex and AIDS.
it even gave them a sort of edge in my mind. i supposed that's what they were actually going for
>>
>>130226027
one of them killed River Phoenix I believe
>>
Not even close to being the worst.
I’ve never liked any of their songs though.
>>
>>130226027
Californication is their best album
Can't Stop is their best song
>>
I’ll never understand how you faggots shit on them but think gay shit like The Beach Boys are amazing
>>
>>130226027
Yes but i love them. People take music too seriously, especially the untalented arm chair critics on mu. Rhcp will always be cool to me because

A. they suck
B. they don't care that they suck
C. they're fun
>>
>>130227869
Both are good. John Fru loves the Beach Boys.

My sides
>>
I don't know if they're the WOAT but they're pretty ass.
>>
>>130226027

It's so strange to me because I was 9-10 years old when that album came out, and everybody just kind of embraced it. There was no psyop or anything, we just as a culture basically fucked with their music. Especially "Scar Tissue", which was a massive massive radio hit. If you were a kid in the back of the family car, you heard the Chili Peppers.

I think at this point their bad music pretty much outweighs any of the good. But they did have a handful of great pop rock songs at their peak. Those few tunes are endlessly listenable though imo.
>>
>>130226027
Dosed is a great song and I will never be convinced otherwise.

>In 1989 and 1990, Mike Patton had been involved in a public controversy with Red Hot Chili Peppers' frontman Anthony Kiedis. Kiedis accused Patton of stealing his style in the video for Faith No More's hit song "Epic", off 1989's The Real Thing.[5] He made a controversial comment to Kerrang! about kidnapping Patton and cutting off his feet "just so he'll be forced to find a style of his own."[51] In the same interview, he remarked, "I thought what a drag if people get the idea that I'm actually ripping him off. Especially in the UK where FNM are much better known than us. In America, it's a different story, people are aware of the profound influence we had on them. But after it stewed in my stomach for a while, I just decided to accept it. He is just a kid. Besides, without his left foot he's going to have to change
>Mr. Bungle parodied the Red Hot Chili Peppers in Pontiac, Michigan on Halloween of 1999. Patton introduced each Mr. Bungle band member with the name of one of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, before covering the songs "Give It Away", "Around the World", "Under the Bridge" and "Scar Tissue", with Patton deliberately using incorrect lyrics, such as "Sometimes I feel like I'm on heroin" and "Sometimes I feel like a fucking junkie" on "Under the Bridge".[60] Patton impersonated Kiedis by wearing a blonde wig and speaking with a lisp. While pretending to be Kiedis, he mockingly said to the crowd: "Don't you call me Mike, my name is Anthony. How dare you make that mistake. Mike has been ripping me off for many years."[60] The other members of Mr. Bungle also satirized many of the mannerisms of the band, mocking heroin injections, deceased guitarist Hillel Slovak, deceased friend River Phoenix and their on-stage antics. In between one of the songs, Trevor Dunn (dressed as Flea) walked up to Spruance (dressed as the ghost of Hilel Slovak) and simulated injecting him with heroin. Patton interrupted this by shouting "You can't shoot up a ghost"

this band used to bel absolutely loved everywhere, what happened? I bet it's only zoomers rage hating them ebcause they can't produce anything like this nowadays.

Their generation don't have a guitar player like John, neither a bass player like Flea, much less a terrific drummer like Chad. All you guys have is tons of Kiedis without their Johns and Fleas. Deal with it.
>>
From the debut to BSSM is all excellent. After that, not so great. Californication though is the tits, so that’s an anomaly. They haven’t made a good album since.
>>
>>130228801
is Faith no More and mr.bungle worth listening to? for someone who never listened to them and is already 30 years old?
>>
>>130226027
they are an excellent band lol
>>
>>130226290
Frusciante is hardly the worst guitarist ever lel

>>130226330
yeah the whole thread caught me off guard, i figured modern /mu/ that sucks off popular artists would like them. BSSM is an all around back to front good record too and it doesn't even have the problem of repeating itself like so many other decent 90s bands
>>
I watched their doc that focuses on Hilel Slovak and their origin, few things were funny to me
>Hilel is this god of funk guitar and feels the groove like a pro yet their sound literally didn't take off or get good enough to sell until he died and Frusciante came in and crushed it
>oh but Froosh was just copying him, sure lets go with that cope
>the huge focus on the gay nigger because he was their friend? and a non musician artist who spread AIDS around?

>>130227326
BSSM>>>>Californication (pop slop)

>>130227869
Pet Sounds is peak soul you faggot (i like RHCP but the audacity to underrate BB)
>>
>>130228869
FNM is hugely overrated but give Angel Dust a listen and decide for youself thats the favorite for most, as for Bungle they're like the experimental mediocre band from the 90s that is only big because Patton was already big and is a world renowned singer or whatever, they certainly have a range of completely ridiculous sounding shit but none of it ever stuck with me, I'd say give them a listen on experimental merit alone, its him and his childhood friends, Disco Volante, California, and the s/t. From memory they're all different
>>
>>130229015
i take it back, i just jumped around those 3 records and they kinda blend together, circus, metal, funk, and much more
>>
>>130229015
>>130229039
Alright, I will listen to some of that. People say this Patton guy is like a god of the nineties, he seems a bit of a douche at times. But I'm liking their upbeat music, it's nice and not depressive. I don't think I will keep listening to them that much, who knows.
>>
>>130226027
of course not, there's sop much sloppa out there
