>>130227057What connections are you going to make with Ronnie D'Addario as your father?
I loved it, some songs weren’t super exciting on first listen but they’re still good. The good tracks are really fucking good. The singles this time had to grow on me too, when I first listened I was like “meh, sounds like stuff I’ve heard before” but the melodies stick with me and now I’m singing them all the time. I like the cover art, it really fits with all the rotator effects.

>>130227057>>130227078I think their biggest advantage was just being born into a family that loves music and was willing to take the time to help teach them the basics. That and community support, like I think I saw that Brian was in his school orchestra?? If anything their success is just a testament to the importance of music education for children. If every kid that wanted to be a rock star had the same resources available, I would be a very happy music fan with the influx of people making actually good music.

>>130227017They’ve been on a roll these past few years. Their stuff honestly isn’t that amazing to me but it’s still some of the most pleasant and well crafted pop/rock being made today.
>>130227017Cant deny most of this sounds good, but sometimes it veers into pretty corny territory and not in a good way.>>130227868Garbage.
>>130227565More than just a family that appreciated music. Their dad was obsessed with this era to the point of naming one of them after Brian Wilson AND Paul McCartney. The real lesson here is that if you raise your kids on exclusively your taste they’ll probably develop the same taste.
>>130228968Their dad was the personification of that Onion headline but in this one solitary case it actually paid off.
im a fan, just saw em live (theyve been very good but not amazing the last few times i saw them, always seem to catch them on a off night or something. i know they can do better) but i see a lot of people looking down their nose at them. its too pat to say 'theyre just jealous grr' but i think there is legitimately a lot to be jealous of, as a songwriter looking at the twigs. i wish i had a brother who matched my songwriting chops and we could bring eachother to new levels and get neat film music vids shot and tour together and play at brian wilson's last birthday partydepending on what type of person you are you might have to get past all that to enjoy the songs under it allbout to listen to the new album brb
>>130228968NGL if I ever have a son, I would consider naming him Brian too LOL>>130229086Honestly that was my knee jerk reaction too when I first heard of them. I take my (attempted) music career pretty seriously, and the first question is, how is this even possible when they’re both so young?! For the longest I always wished I had a songwriting partner or just reliable collaboration from anyone. But everyone’s journey is different, just because they have success at a younger age doesn’t mean I’m doomed to never have success. There is also so little music being made nowadays that really resonates with me, that I can’t afford to be that sour about it! Haha so I got over that feeling pretty quick. Now I just think it’s really sweet and wholesome how supportive their family is. Also props to the dad for being genuinely proud of their success, some parents don’t like to see their kids outshine them….
