Just listened, yeah it’s really good.

Neurosis is AOTY
>>
9/10 imo, preferred 2nd half over first half. Last song is best song, caught me off guard

unironically AOTY-tier. listening now

they sound like a slightly heavier, darker TMBG.
>>
>>130229159
Definitely their best album, but I’d say only 30% punk
>>
Not sure if it is AOTY but last track is probably SOTY. Good album

Yeah, shilling

I'm not the type to accuse, but
>two sales on Bandcamp
>Bandcamp page doesn't link to a label
>says only 100 records will be pressed
>all praise ITT
Not definitive, but very suspect. I'll still give it a listen.

Gave it a chance. This shit sucks. Couldn't make it past two songs. There may be some ok lyrics, but the vocals are garbage. Really bad.
>>
best part of album is 2nd half of Newspaper. I give it an 8/10 but need to relisten. Definitely one of the best rock releases of 2026 but that isn't saying much

Work on your vocals my man, they are grating. I couldn't go trough one song because of them. Sounds like a cartoon character.

I guessed by the album cover that you would be a sorta mathy metalcore but the comments itt about your bad singing made me curious. Your album was pretty hard to find with my youtube premium account, so I guess you're not using a distributor(?) May be selling yourself short on reach.
You obviously aren't mathy metalcore, it's navel gazing sadboy indie- your band logo doesn't convey this at all, and might be holding you back from new fans. It's not my type of music, but I'm glad that middle-of-the-road Weezer/Pavement/Dino Jr. shit is coming back around with young people, because that's what keeps venues open for us crusties and grinders and acid techno ravers to book during indie rock's off nights.
Your voice is unique enough, in a good way, to get attention from indieheads, but you *do* need a few professional lessons if you wanna get into a seriously higher tier of booking. It's a fine voice for this kinda stuff, but even just a local church choir director or someone can teach you how to dial in your pitch just a tad more.
Your voice really should be lower in the mix, because this is a rock album that verges on having some pretty big arena rock moments- not this Rhianna pop voice-up-front shit where I'm often not even able to focus on listening to the instrumentals. The drums should be brought forward a good bit, the guitar should be slightly louder, your vocals need to be dipped somewhere 800-100hz, and brought down. Also the vocals are way too dry- I can hear the reverb tail during drops so I know there's some dampness there, but I feel like the glue reverb and glue delay sends are down too much, and the whole thing needs to be wetter and maybe even a send to a slight bitcrusher or similar for a crunch that will help mix in better.
The electric "rock guitar" tone could use a little more high-mids.
Overall- I haven't turned it off yet, and I think this would make a great demo to send out back in the old days. Needs work.

Whether you like his voice or not, it's not "unique" at all. Heard that same thing many times.
>>

Show me some that are contemporary to the artist in question- i.e. three artists that are garnering for attention right now in the world of indie rock. They can even be local bands, like the op pretty much seems to be. Not solo singers- bands- like in op. Otherwise, durr some people have similar voices- but if they're not playing indie rock then how is it relevant to this discussion?
Or did you mean that in the 115 or so years of recorded music, there have been some singers who sound like this person? In which case I would say "Oh fucking wow! You don't say?!"

fwiw, I said "unique ENOUGH... to get attention from indieheads" - so okay what exactly is the point you're making? I didn't specify the exact quantitative amount of uniqueness that indie rock listeners require?
>>
>>130241761
>so okay what exactly is the point you're making?
The OP band is much worse than your critique suggests, and that your standards are low and generic, and therefore your opinion isn't to be trusted.
>>
>>130241818
you shoulda just said that the fist time. I play in crust bands, record local hardcore demos and book grindcore shows- my standards for indie rock are "divide by zero- error" because I hate all of this creamsicle Jagstang polo shirt shit, but it's a rainy Saturday morning and I'm at my computer listening to random links on 4chan threads and, like I said earlier, the cover caught my attention because I thought it was a different genre. But yeah you're right, my standards are generic for evaluating an asshat genre of performative male garbage that I have zero interest and hardly any experience with.
