I like when he acts with Jerry Lewis
>>
>>130232249
Yeah, he MOGGED the rest of the Rat Pack
>>
Better than Sinatra and better looking too. Why is Sinatra the bigger icon?
>>
>>130232574
Sinatra actually had passion when he sang while Deano just drunkenly smirked his way through every song.

Apparently it was an all act though and he wasn't much of an alcoholic

I don't know that I can say much about Dean as a singer or a man or whatever, but I will say that his version of Gentle On My Mind is one of the more interesting ones.
Compared to, say, Glen Campbell's or Roger Miller's versions that are more melodic, Dean's delivery is very percussive which makes for a different kind of groove in the song. He was known for that kind of delivery, lagging slightly behind the beat in a sort of boozy manner, but Gentle On My Mind really highlights it.
You can hear his influence in singers like Willie Nelson too. You don't have Crazy without Dean.
I'd say he was an archetype that I sorely miss today.

They both had passion in their voice

Thoughts on Wayne Newton's version?

It's a little fast for my taste, but I can see why people might like it. Gentle On My Mind is a really pretty song that's only enhanced by the typical Nashville treatment in my opinion, so I tend to go for sweeter, lusher versions of it.
That said, Wayne seems to be having fun with it and that counts for a lot. It's a good song. A standard for a reason.

Comedy crooner like Steve Lawrence, except he was actually talented while Lawrence...was not.

dean fartin lmao

I wish he had an album that’s as good as Watertown, but that probably wasn’t his thing

Live From Las Vegas [Capitol, 2005]
"You wanna hear me sing straight, buy an ablium" ("Drink to Me Only With Thine Eyes/Pennies From Heaven [Bourbon]/Hello, Dolly [Vegas]," "Monologue"). **

One of Dean's earliest records, from 1951. It's better than the original version of this song, but then why wouldn't it be?

i think 90% of people only know "That's Amore" anyway. maybe that Christmas song he did?
>>
>>130232249
I remember being in the hospital a few years ago and I got wheeled into a room to get a picc line put in my arm, and my nurses were these 2 idiosyncratic dudes who were playing dean martins greatest hits on the speakers, I remember specifically hearing Standing On The Corner. It was very funny. Deano is great but I havent heard any of his albums unfortunately

Honestly senpai, he's p. overrated. Probably the worst of the rat pack
>>
>>130236816
idk it doesn't really work when a 30-something man is singing it. the song worked as intended for Teresa Brewer when she was 19 years old.
>>
>>130232249
he's great
>>
>>130237099
Hes got the best voice in the rat pack by a mile.
>>
>>130232249
His version of Rudolf is one of the most annoying christmas playlist standards.
>>
>>130236940
the problematic Christmas song?
