is music journalism dead?

>>130233792they're even scared of reddit and have to do an ama in a "proud BIPOC, LGBTQ+ & woman-dominated space" where anything even slightly critical of them will be immediately deleted
>>130233841no, poptimism was so completely successful that most zoomers don't even know it happened

>>130233699fpbpMusic journalism exists so that insecure people can write and read for the comfort of other insecure people. That's it.All the critics could stop completely and the world would be just fine.
no but any day now, hopefully.

>>130236911literally what I thought>It's deep. It is thorough, it's thoughtful, it's beautiful, it's deeply researched.all things that reply isn't lmao
>>130233689Yes. This shit isn't supposed to me siloed, moderated or curated to any degree. They should be writing 5000 word screeds about bullshit that pisses people off; not this measured stuff where people kiss your ass about a listicle that identified their favorite artist as a true great you were payed in vibes to publish on Rolling Stone. You should be in your parent's basement ranting and raving about the underground and talking shit about pop stars and how dumb and transient the whole thing is. All these 'american songwriters' are pop artists. Pop music isn't meant to be taken this seriously and American music journalists have ruined the discourse around what at the end of the day is a product. /wpop/ and /kpop/ have a better grip on the idea of pop music because none of those thread have anything to do with music.
>>130233689>Approved media outlet>judged and helped producethis person was tangentially involved in a corporately approved list of artists they intend to promote, what could this person possibly have to say that warrants a moderated Q&A?
I like music journalists who interview artists and write bio books on bands and artists. I don't give the first fuck about their opinion on any type of music. I'd rather read anons earnest, non (YOU) farming takes (which are becoming less and less).
