Alright /mu/, I have to ask... how is there a new Nic Sequeira album out and nobody told me?

Apparently this album "Telepathic Mail From The Quiet City" dropped April 20, which is Nic's birthday, so as is tradition I am interested to hear what the fellow nicsters here on /mu/ think about it. I just gave it a full listen this morning and I might prefer it to the last one, its sound is a little more traditional for what you'd expect.

What do you think-?

I think "Sellouts" is one of Nic's all-time best tracks, it'll go down with "Ohio" or "Alice's Restaurant" as one of the best protest songs of our generation. I can tell just from his tone Nic has been holding back his feelings against the science complex for a long time, and he's very glad to get all that angst off his chest.

It's practically a Neil Young song with how raw and powerful it is

Pretty good release, it's up there in the DNW canon I think. I was going to make a thread about it a week ago but glad to see someone else noticed

Samefag talking to himself shill thread

Sellouts is definitely a highlight, it's about time a real artist like Nic calls the scientists out on their bullshit. You don't see much music like that these days, chaotic and unfiltered. He is the Sex Pistols of Gen Z

Nic is gay? I thought he was asexual. At least that's what magazines like "DNW Journal" have led me to believe

Yeah, Nic is asexual. Songs off this album, such as "Serotonin Storm" and "From My Body," confirm that directly. I think we're just dealing with a troll here who thinks it's edgy and cool to use the f-slur

You always say the same shit when you talk about yourself. Kys nic. You suck

I really like "From My Body". One of Nic's best acapella tracks for sure. It's an earworm, too. I've had it stuck in my head for days
>>
>>130245328
Nah, this is just kind of a running gag here on the Nic threads, an inside joke among the Nic fan club, because you have a weird inclination to call Nic gay when actually he is Asexual
>>
>>130245349
"From My Body" is a very raw and intimate portrait of an Asexual's mind and various complexes. It's not all that common to hear from an Asexual's perspective in music. I guess we have Ana Gabriel, but Nic deals with the subject in a much more direct, countercultural sort of way

It’s just you and me in this thread nic. You are pathetic

You are clearly just jealous of Nic's overwhelming talent- on this album he records, composes, and arranges 22 songs, that's a solid hour and a half of music. You will never achieve that in your life. You will probably never even achieve half of that. Get over yourself

Peak New Wave kino. I got to catch Nic live a few weeks ago, actually. It was a Friday and that's my day off, so I took my girlfriend to the Nic show and he played "There Is No Flood" off this new album. It's track 21 about how there was never a such thing as Noah's Ark, and halfway through the performance my girlfriend turned towards me and she was like, "This is the kind of secular humanist music the world really needs right now". Then she kissed me, right as Nic went into his harmonica solo. It was pretty freaking awesome
>>
>>130245452
Fuck yeah bruv. That's the New Wave experience
>>
>>130245164
Dude... is that a "Hulk" sample on Track 10?

lmao Nic actually went there... fuck yes

Whenever I sit down to listen to a new Nic album, it's a ritual for me. I make sure all the sound settings on my PC are turned just right, I turn my phone to "do not disturb" and tell my secretary that for the next little while she'll have to take all my calls. Then I lean back and breathe deeply and prepare myself for the new wave voyage ahead. And I never know quite what I'm going to get going in. That's the power of New Wave, I think. It's not like metal where it is always some stringy 30-year-old chode yelling about how he hates his wife or whatever. With new Wave, I can really sink my teeth in.

I think my favorite track is the 6-minute closer, "Yance-Man"

Next to "Inferno" by Boards Of Canada, I feel like this was the most anticipated release of the year
>>
>>130245809
Yeah, I would say so. They're very similar on a conceptual level, too. I'm glad Nic is active and producing in the same year of a BOC release. After I listen to Inferno when it drops on May 29, I'm gonna run this back as a kind of double feature and see how they contrast against each other.

Mental illness

Not really. It's new wave

You have to be pretty dismissive to look at a high-quality hour-and-a-half New Wave extravaganza like this and arrive at the conclusion that it's the result of mental illness. I mean, even if it is, who gives a shit? it's peak music. It literally doesn't get any better than this

I am digging all the Harlan Ellison samples on this

Peak Nic, 9/10
