This album is a mess and, the crazy thing is, it's acknowledged as a mess by anyone willing to voice their opinion. Yet, for some unaccountable reason, in most quarters it's still considered to be a classic and rated really highly. If ever you need proof that the world is going mad look no further than this. Some cite the fact that Third / Sister Lovers is a fascinating document of a band splintering due to a combination of a record company collapse and a band leader in Alex Chilton who effectively decided to commit commercial suicide by screwing up the whole recording process. And that makes this a classic how? To my mind admiring something for the way it captures disintegration is like rubbernecking at a bad car wreck or stopping to stare at the crazy guy on the soapbox dressed in a dirty raincoat and wellies spouting on about the world crashing and burning and everybody dying as a consequence. It might be your eyes are involuntarily drawn towards it but that certainly doesn't make it a work of art.
>>130253834The only question is: are the songs good or nah?
Is there a song with more "I'm going to fucking kill myself" energy than Holocaust?
>>130253834I hate this way of talking about music
>>130254085Studio Album Mindset should be in the DSM.
I always found this album more comfy than depressing, esp the more drowsy, downbeat songs which are fantastic, the more upbeat songs are kinda cheesy and kill the vibe for me
>>130253943saddest song of all time
>>130253834theres a couple skippable songs but it also has some of their best songs. Such as nightime, big black car and holocaust. But their obvious best album is radio city
