Think about it: they combine traits of every intellectual genre: classical, jazz, jazz-fusion, prog rock, metal, electronic, and world/folk, and combine it into something unique and not easy to replicate.
>>
Yes. Proof? Your picrel and the Chrono Cross soundtrack

Maybe superficially, you retarded weeb faggot.

I know this is a bait thread, but post a JRPG track you consider "unique" and I guarantee a musician's already done it before

now post the real track

You don't get to pretend to be an elitist on the internet until you can post something that sounds like that, you smug LARPing piece of shit.

That might genuinely be the only example of somebody combining zeuhl and shoegaze on the planet.

Yes? Still waiting for you to post anything. That video game composer's been posted in all sorts of recc threads on /v/ and mu/ over the years of people looking for music that sounds the same and nobody's posted anything truly identical that came prior.
>>
>>130257198
No but really, I do want you to prove me wrong and post something.
Forever Kingdom/Evergrace are soundtracks that people have been trying to find similar sounding music for over 20 years. You'd be solving something a lot of people on this board and /v/ have been trying to search for.
>>
i swear video game soundtracks impress the biggest retards with no experience and no standards kek. how old are kids these days when they start playing jrpgs? 8? 9?

Yoko shimomura is the #1 classical composer

It is what Classical music evolved into so yes.

Name a country that pays classical composers more than Japan and its vydia gaem studios you cant. They have a monopoly on classical orchestration and compositions atm due to that.

>>130261034
>Yoko shimomura is the #1 classical composer
I disagree but she is a good composer
This is her best song imo:

I'm gonna say yes because some pretentious music nerd will be triggered by that
>>
>>130261736
and the pretentious music nerd that gets triggered by that cannot even play music thats the funny part, he doesn't practice (he is like Fantano).

Every single instrumentalist i know irl likes vydia music and considers some songs worthy of learning and great for practice, some are hard af as well.

I find it funny how you cling to the word "classical" because you're so incredibly insecure that you need to prop up the music you like as something "better" and more "serious". Definitely not pretentious, nope. Even though weeb soundtracks aren't even remotely classical music.

It's the same thing metalheads used to do with "woah!! fast guitarz = just liek classical = bettur than shitty pop muzik!!" and now weebs do it with "omg is that a shitty MIDI violin loop??? this is literally classikal!!!"

OP self-inserts as a shota being molested by Hagley Williams (age: 37). He's got good taste though so that makes him more tolerable than other, more single-minded waifufags
>>
when you said "intellectual" I think you meant to say "pretentious" and "gatekeepercore"

>OH MY GOD A TENOR SAXOPHONE IN MY PROG ROCK SONG PLAYING BLUES ROCK LICKS, THIS IS LITERALLY AVANT-GARDE JAZZ
>WOW DUDE PIANO SOLO IN MY SYMPHONIC BLACK METAL SONG IT'S THE SECOND COMING OF SCHUMANN
i dont know why, but disproportionately, rockfags and metalheads really need this kind of rhetoric to prop up their music taste. they love to use the words "classical" and "jazz" even though they don't really listen to or understand them kek. really bizarre fixation that i've noticed for years and years.

The reason why children love game soundtracks and their so-called "diverse" influences is because it gives them an excuse to larp as cultured, sophisticated music fans but without any of the work or discipline. Too much of a lazy retard to spend all that time digging through Beethoven, Haydn, Bruckner and Wagner? Not interested in listening to Wayne Shorter, Charles Mingus, Bud Powell or Coleman Hawkins? Just listen to a couple vidya albums so you can delude yourself into being an aesthete, particularly with regards to classical and jazz which have an aura of prestige thanks to their age and longevity.
Too bad this idea doesn't work because video game soundtracks almost never use interesting forms, structures, improvisations, or whatever. They need to be restrained to match le ebin action of whatever's happening on screen, so formally the music needs to have safe loops and spots for transitions, and emotionally it's usually just super hype battle music or very tacky and vain melodrama scores. It's glorified pop music for action-figure addicts with complexes.
