this is weird. there are a shitload of good bands from Ohio, a bunch from Michigan, bluegrass legends from Kentucky. But Indiana and Illinois (outside of Chicago) have very little to show for it.

The Jacksons are from there but hit it big in Motown.

The issue is that from indiana that’s the oregon trail out west but that’s also the hazardous fast one and that’s also the point where sort of the gravitational pull from the east coast begins to fade out but especially with indianapolis in the tailights and a lot of miles to get to the west coast from there just following the wagon ruts on that dusty highway until getting to colorado springs or something like that
