Pickup type, pickup position, string freshness, string gauge, and amp. There's really no reason to have multiple guitars. You can get any tone from any type of guitar. Get one with single coil and humbuckers and that's all you need

the sounds is produced by the ringing metal strings and the magnetic coils... so no. The wood influences nothing other than the shape of the instrument. Different instruments come out of the box with different strings though. Now that can make a difference.

bridges. Jazzmaster/jag bridge gets you the shoegazey bendy shit, floyd rose gets you the over the top squeely shit etc.
Also hollow vs not can make a difference. The languadocs that Trey Anastasio has hugely assist in him being able to sustain any note as long as he wants, altho his compressor is playing a big part in that too
Other than that I'm pretty much with you. I've got a jazzmaster where the strings sometimes get pulled off the bridge because it's not really meant to be played that hard but if you've got something that can take a beating and don't care about that other stuff then you can make do with whatever

That is not true, there is still a difference between hollow, semi-hollow and solid bodies that amps, strings and pickups cannot compensate for.
>>
This may be about pedals but you can still aplly this to tonewood morons

Well yeah, i doubt anyone disputes that solid and hollow guitars sound different.

changing factors like string gauge and tuning takes time and possibly an entire setup of the guitar if you only have the one
string count makes a difference too, and scale length i guess
