how does /mu/ feel about Superchunk?
back in my big indie phase as a teen I never cared for them, but now like a decade+ later I realized they're actually fucking great. I genuinely think Mac is as good of a songwriter as any of the big 90s indie songwriters

seems like everybody was well aware of them in the 90s but for whatever reason they never really made it into the canon for later gens like me digging around online for shit

I think every band from that Chapel Hill scene was completely useless trash. However, a lot of the bands I like seem to be described as Superchunk-inspired. Slack Motherfucker is a decent tune, but only the fIREHOSE version.

whats the best album

foolish or on the mouth

yeah "on the mouth" is the best starting place imo. Sometimes I like "here's where the strings come in" the most but it's def a change in sound that I could see some people not liking. I think you can get the vibe enough from any of those.

i don't like most of it but there's some good shit imo

Polvo, Seam and Archers of Loaf were great, you pleb.
>>
I like them.
reminder that Superchunk the band came first and the Cartoon Network programming block came second. draw your own conclusions as to if it's a coincidence but the CN programmers were in Atlanta and Spaceghost was hosting Bjork and all type of cool guests at the time

didn't even know about the CN block, that's neat. Assuming it's the same people behind Adult Swim those guys were in on some relatively hip music back then. Even if it wasn't named after them I'm sure they were aware of the band

>Archers of Loaf
nah they suck but the other bands you listed are good
>>
>>130268561
yeah, that was our assumption at the time. it was my friend's favorite band for a while and he had a CN Superchunk T-shirt that he wore instead of the band tee
