in the 2000s i was friends with a mexican juggello, he had the shittiest taste in music but he was the funniest guy i knew

They were genuinely subversive at one point. In the late 90s and 2000s scatological lyrics, pro wrestling, nu metal, and "white trash" or "scrubs" were considered trash culture, and people hated them. They were everything most people never wanted to be. Genres like punk and indie were actually very style-conscious and scene-conscious, purist, and elitist, so they were gatekept. In other words, they were not truly outsiders, they were hipsters. Juggalos were true outsiders - at Gathering of the Juggalos you'd see meth addicts, people who had kids at 13, truly what mainstream society considered dregs. Even if it was dumb, anti-intellectual, gaudy, and consumerist, it was the true counterculture.

desu I couldn't stand it. I grew up in part of Colorado with lots of these white trash juggalos, and they were without exception some of the dumbest, biggest pieces of shit I knew. But they were a home for the truest misfits and outcasts, or at least the low IQ ones.

Riddle Box to Bizzare Bazaar and the first Twiztid album and they'll ALWAYS be important but now? Even past that? I'm not sure what to hang around for.

Juggalos were that wrestling clique full of weirdos, it came and went and changed a lot but there was always the 4 or 5 crazies that hooked up in WWF. If you want an uncomfortable comparison, Captain Lou and Cyndi Lauper's little gang.

I went to an ICP concert at a festival last year and honestly it was a blast. Musically it was shit, every song sounded exactly the same, but that started to become really funny in a dadaistic way after a while. The theatricality was fantastic. They should lean into the circus angle more though.
