>>130305843>thoughts?not too sure tb hit sounds good but im not familiar with this genre at all. what do you even call it? videogame hyperpop?
>>130305858fuck if i know. i got inspiration from exodia and purity freak. but yeah videogame hyperpop sounds about right
https://vocaroo.com/1hJ2jP1668Soim back from my holiday in russia now trying to experiment with some internal routing in cubase based off this guy's tutorialhttps://youtu.be/Nyn3TfHmQpE?si=hWh1jU0XrFPYXErE
>>130305870>>130305858>>130305843it’s supposed to be by trance x techno u noobz stop calling everything hyperpop there’s nothing hyper here
>>130305893that tempo sounds rather hyper
>>130305893ok ok whatever. any legitimate feedback? does shit go hard or not?
>>130305922the melodies and musical ideas get lost in some sections but i like the atmosphere and sound selectionyes, "it goez hard :p"
took a break from trying to make Sims music to make some punky(?) stuff - i don't really know what it ishttps://voca.ro/19YwoS4QAYHshttps://voca.ro/1eL4NxQNq8dfhttps://vocaroo.com/1gLX2v1L7VpAthird one probably needs to be mixed down again
is this worth making a song fromhttps://voca.ro/1d8WNy9Jx7nV
>>130305843>https://vocaroo.com/1k9oS8hq1Mkuthis hyperpop idea is fucking you, make it a more reasonable time. Your leads are choked into the attack sound. You can roll trigger the snare rim sounds saved on a preset, then it's a tasty accent.
>>130307937>https://voca.ro/19YwoS4QAYHsPut some hot gated reverb synth sax on it. Really breathy sounding.
maybe I'm just retarde and don't know how to use it properly, but ableton's quantization hasn't once yielded the desirable result for me, even when I tell it to nudge by 32th notes only which should preserve the intricacies of strumming patterns and such while fixing up the timing.also, does Ableton not have a sequencer of some kind for drums? it's kind of annoying to have to enter drums as midi notes with a pencil tool.
>>13030885216 is a good one, but you have to play somewhat in time. However why quantise at all in that case. Quantised music is universally bad, only for zoomers who don't know better
>>130308852in my house we call it "ablescone"
>>130308852i set it “to current grid” and then at 10% so i can just spam ctrl+u to get a desired quantize amount as needed
also do kilohearts distortions expect to be gain staged a certain way?i gave them (shapertable) another go after getting back into it and the initial version of that song turned into a distorted mess pretty quickly.*i feel* like i have to drive most khs plugins pretty hard to get a noticeable/desirable tone change, and by that time the signal is just squashed to shit and no transients survive. the way the output/mix work also makes it annoying to attempt anything in parallel, and likewise any attempt at “stereo” you’re better off dialing in by yourself rather than the dedicated control.idk most of their plugins are insane but maybe these just aren’t for me

posted this in the last thread but need an unbiased opinion on this. I think it actually sounds cool but I get why people wouldnt like it. Im autistic if that helps. https://vocaroo.com/16x2xXg2QCzw
>>130313866its not that crazy that normies wouldnt like it man. just reggae, theres a whole ass audience for thattrack wise it really feels like its missing something to make it interesting. theres no lead melody or vocals
>>130314074Yeah i know! Interesting, i found it to be a very entertaining track by my standards because of sound design. Vocals are not a bad idea but idk if i could commit that hard to this, i dont even smoke weed lmao.
>>130313866>https://vocaroo.com/16x2xXg2QCzwi like the vibe, feel like the drums need a little sprucing up a bit, definitely needs vocals. im not super keen on tone so my opinion prolly doesnt matter that much but that bass tone is sexy imo. the middle section needs something else going on but if you get vocals on this hoe it'll be good. overall it's good, needs vocals & more shit going on
>>130314594Spruce as in mixing?
https://voca.ro/1oxCIdcrxrdT been working on this for about a month now and was hoping to hear what people think about it
>>130314945I like it, it's got some shades of the Orbital song "Belfast" in it once it's past the snare roll intro, so maybe listen to that if you're not familiar with it already so you don't accidentally add more similarity, but I like how it changes up later on. Keep with it and post it again when you've got further down the road with it.
does anyone here ever publish music in mono? it's kind of a vibe, ngl tb halso it helps me mix, my drums are no longer taking up so much headroom
>>130315652I just do simple guitar songs with vocals and I do both in mono. I don't notice much benefit to stereo, it's just another mic/audio issue to iron out.
>>130315663im a slut for stereo width but yes overdoing it will create shitty phase issues later, and sometimes less clarity.however since my daw comes with a dolby atmos renderer, im probably gonna start doing binaural stuff just to experiment
>monoretard posting hours
>I don't notice much benefit to stereo
>>130315913>>130315933audio engineers get the bullet
>you have to be an audio engineer to appresh stereo
mono is clearly superior....IF YOU ONLY HAVE ONE FUCKING EAR
>>130316178if you have one ear you can still tell the difference between mono and stereo silly
>>130316203yeah you would not be hearing whatevers in the other half of the mix
>>130316225if there's only mono there's nothing else to hear>>130316178it plays the same in both ears
>>130316225headphone scenario worse for one ear person than monitorsmaybe someone could design headphones that have two speakers for one ear so they can hear stereo in the one ear lelprobably retarded af idea tho
>>130316225akshuyally if a retard (you) fuck up the stereo coh reh lashyuns it WILL sound different even with one ear. this is further proof of why you’re dumb and stupid and wrong
>>130316254holy fuck stop posting
>if you mono a stereo mix it can sound bad
you guys are critically retarded
Guys what tracker should I use? I am having trouble manually editing things in Audacity, and I believe using a more professional program will allow me to make some tunes to a higher level.I don't have the expertise to know if it matters but I wish to make music in the style of Atari Teenage Riot.
I can play an instrument well and know music theory no problembut how the actual fuck do I go about learning synthsare there any good youtube channels or books or somethingany high quality free vst synths I can spend a stupid amount of time learning and shedding or something
>>130316629pastebin
>>130316259>you’re dumb and stupid and wrongI read this in Takeshi 6six9nine's voice and cadencehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPw_izFr5PA>>130316539That image is pure soul; I want to go back.Renoise is where it's at. The Paketti tool for it has a ton of workflow improvements if you're into that.
mono is absolutely necessary for mixing. if you aren't A/B'ing between stereo and mono, your projects are suffering
>>130316669i still mono for tough balances or just a change in perspective.however this is also one of those “experienced” ear things where you can just hear when stereo correlation or the stereo balance among elements is wrong after a while.discussion over stereo/phase is also one of those things where people are egregiously wrong and just never get corrected, so that wronf information just gets passed along and people just continue stabbing in the dark.
>>130316785experienced people still a/b from stereo to mono, and its certainly not a bad practice even after years of training. in fact, i think it would help further train your ears to look for discrepancies in the stereo image
https://vocaroo.com/1eN1NtIdPJYhjolly ah beat
>>130317426i'd eq down the bass above 120hz, its just coming through a bit too much in the mixpretty boring overall, but keep grinding :)
Can ableton do this on a synth yet
>>130319193Damn ableton sucks frfr
>>130316266ok dan worrall
>doesn't require KYC>doesn't pull your releases if you stop paying, OR distributing is free>delivers quicklyWhat are some distributors like this
This thing is awesome. How is this shit free.
Any feedback you guys got on this mix/master of a song I'm working on? https://voca.ro/11jsHGLtd7ZEI suppose the sort of idea production and song writing wise is that it's a song with a very steady techno beat and those looping repetitive guitars but where the arp grows louder and more distorted throughout the song creating tension.I tried glueing it all together here using some compression then tape on the master since the very reverby arp and vocals just sounded very unconnected to the rest of the mix but now I feel like a bit of the dynamics are lost a result? I am really not sure what would be the best sound for this track. I don't mind "tastelessly" loud masters like some people do I am just not sure if that's what would be right for this song.

my diminished 5ths and flat 2s/9s keep sounding pretty instead of creepy tough guy grr >:3halp 8(
>>130324966>my diminished 5ths and flat 2s/9sVery sexy. I think I may need to record an improvisation using these, but I'll add some major 7ths to the mix... like alternating phrases using flat-9s and maj-7s.

>>130325719it is i posted it because the main melody uses flat 9th really well (imo) (in my opinion)
>>130325870stolen valour baka
>>130326019ermmmm you can post anything as a vocaroothat track is from like 2002 btwpeople here should study it and pendulum as a whole if you want to hear what actually good production sounds like
>>130325305if you told me this was pendulum I'd believe it
>>130325818cool af, keep pushing!
>>130326231Thanks! Did you listen to both songs or one? just curious.
>>130326259both!:p my fav was the first one
>>130322812It's a favorite along with Tyrell Nexus 6. Although I get a lot of good shit out of Kontkt 8, I think that's a paid one or at least some of mine is. I got an I/O box from presonus that came with 600 freebies. Then I learned hexaphonic pickups for guitar require ANOTHER box and cable entirely.
is piano exceptionally hard to fit into busy mixes or am i that bad question mark
>>130327209Skill issue. Just do a high pass to remove low and a bit of low midsI write shit and mix like a shit I am. And no, it's a vocal synthesis, not a w*manhttps://vocaroo.com/11yqriSH3qws
>>130327523bro ?
>>130327556What?
i've decided to just bake my effects into my guitar tracks, sounds cleaner and less phase issues.
and also CHRIS JOHNSON should make a version of derez specifically for us (me).dry>corpus>derez2>derez3you can hear quite plainly a couple extra dimensions of movement in comparison, but clearly derez is still quite suited to the sound, more so than a standard bit crusher, with more dynamic (less stable) overtones and added noise.idk i just want some additional kind of drift or wide internal filter in a loop... you know, in that airwindows-y wayhttps://vocaroo.com/1eV0AqpdTkse
>>130327209High pass the piano at about 6-700 Hz
