How did they do it?

Zooms either love Talking Heads or Deftones, and both kinds of zooms fuck older guys so I'm happy

Their last two albums are incredibly mediocre.

Mediocre and bad are different things, so point stands.

Sure, but their are bands with just as many or more albums who don't have any bad or mediocre releases.

my favorite music review in Vice magazine was:

>Talking heads? More like talking fags. 1/5

Literally who?

"A funky little number, that’s for sure. I like the bass a lot. Good mixture and a real good flow. The singer sounds like he has a bad case of stage fright." - Chuck Berry

Op here. Sorry I meant The Fall, all of them great

I'm not the biggest talking heads fan but I think a huge part of this is that nobody truly knows what the fuck is going on with David Byrne. Their music is generally unique, and you've got a character at the front who you've decided you like, but half the time you can't really tell where his heads at, you just trust him. This trust covers anything they do that you don't instinctively love, you can blame yourself and listen harder, plus at the very least they're still making some cool/weird shit that you certainly don't dislike. Ofc this requires them to have some good shit to pull you in in the first place though.

REM had no bad albums, even after getting a huge contract from a major label.

My Life in the Bush of Ghosts is pretty cool.

Roxy Music, XTC, The Outsiders/The Sound, The Jam, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, The The, Felt, The Go-Betweens, Prefab Sprout, The Wedding Present. If you limit a discography to the first 8 albums, it adds more options too, like Springsteen, The Fall, R.E.M., The Cure, Depeche Mode, Elvis Costello, Kate Bush, The Church, Cleaners from Venus, Sparks, etc
>>
I don’t know much, but what I do know is that Remain In Light is one of the greatest albums ever recorded.

>Roxy Music
Manifesto and Flesh + Blood are not that much better than True Stories.
>The Sound
they only made 5 albums.
>The Jam
only 6 albums.

>Manifesto and Flesh + Blood are not that much better than True Stories.
It took me many listens to appreciate Manifesto, so I'll give you that one, but Flesh + Blood is awesome and blows the final two Talking Heads albums out of the water.
>they only made 5 albums.
They were The Outsiders before The Sound. That gives them 7 studio albums (8 if you include World of Rubber, 9 if you include Propaganda) and multiple EPs, all of which are really good.
>only 6 albums.
If you include Snap and Extras, it's more material.
