For years I've been writing this band off and thinking of them as shit. I listened to court, and red, and both thought they were extremely boring. I listened to discipline earlier today and thought well, it's better, but it still felt really pretentious. But I just listened to this and it's actually really fucking good. And it's seemingly their most maligned by their fans. Are prog fans just fucking retarded?
SHEEEEE
>>130316360idk, I fucking hate King Crimson so I'll listen to it right now and tell you if you're smoking crack.
I think it is a bit more accessible because more songs have lyrics. Some of them have more of a pop structure that can sound a little more familiar to a non prog listener. Heartbeat is probably the best example imo. I think Belew played it a bit more pop on his Young Lions album, too.https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=EDqoLIJLfk0
aaaand officially tapping out @ NeuroticaWell, the reverse Police/Sting osmosis is somewhat familiar enough to approach enjoyable, for a few seconds at a time, until KC manages to do what they do best; Combine all of the most hated elements in prog into one heroically irritating product.
>>130316360Beat is lowkey the best of the 80s trio. Discipline is obviously hyped, TOAPP is patchy but has its moments (the weird side 2 in particular is awesome) but Beat is like the perfect tech-fag new wave album that blends the emotive feel of contemporary pop with complex instrumentation. For me, its The Howler - its like Talking Heads on steroids and if they were actually good.
worst thread on this board right now
>>130316360Fripp's lead playing on Requiem might be my favourite of his.I love how there's no reverb or delay on his guitar whatsoever and when he mutes the string the sound just dies instantly. So odd.

>>130316360Beat is a good album but you also got filtered by other shit.
>>130316360This is my favorite incarnation of this band. Adrian Belew and Tony Levin are among the best musicians in the world. I hate the old stuff and the newer stuff is inaccessibly up its own ass but this one is just right.
>>130320063>worst thread on this board right nowlet me bump it for you
>>130321230See the problem with KC is classification. You try to tell people about prog and recommend this silly shit, it scares them half to death. They probably think you're retarded. If I'm going to tell someone about prog I'll play some Genesis or Yes. Something coherent and listenable. KC and Magma type bands should be put next to Zappa or Beefheart; Novelty prog! They belong more properly on a Dr Demento compilation. I'm surprised KC doesn't use more slide whistles and handfart noises.
>>130316360>Talking Heads Cover Band, LP2
>>130317017>>130322779kys tranny
>>130322779Exceptionally well crafted bait. Never post again. You're too powerful.
Red, Discipline, THRAK, in that order. That is all.
>>130324184that's definitely not all
>>130324305For me, it is. You got a problem with that?
>>130316360If you like it, great. You'll probably also like Three Of A Perfect Pair. I wouldn't recommend any other King Crimson album for you. Some of the members of those albums tour under the band name "Beat." They're doing a European tour this year.https://beat-tour.com/
