This band existed solely to fill space on FM playlists

lot of lame people itt, Foreigner rocks and there's 2 or 3 songs per album that are catchy as hell, picked up Head Games a few weeks ago so now I have their first 4 albums on vinyl, sucks to be you guys you're missing out

This is one of my favorite deepcuts from them

Double Vision [Atlantic, 1978]
I love rock-and-roll so much that I find myself getting off on "Hot-Blooded", a typical piece of nookie-hating cock-rock based on a riff-verse-chord change that's (gah) second-generation Bad Company. Other than that there's nothing here to threaten their status as world's dullest band. Inspirational verse--"She backhanded me/'Cross my face." C-

super deluxe version of 4 was recently released

it is kind of amazing how these actually good AOR bands from late 70s/early 80s have been written out of rock history in favor of the much inferior punk/new wave stuff.

I mean some of the AOR like Kansas and maybe even Boston goes overboard on the sound and new wave minimalism was a palate cleanser.

But Foreigner has tight, crisp guitar-centric songs with killer hooks, what all those limited talent punk bands could never achieve.

And they all seem to have come from just as humble of beginnings too it seems.

>(gah)
>>
>>130320689
their audience was basic suburban normies not cool, hip people like the New Wave fans
>>

I'm talking about the album

>second-generation Bad Company
or third generation Free
It's impossible not to notice the similarities with All Right Bow
>>
it's easy to understand why

>band members were uninteresting professionals without any cool rock star personalities
>Lou Gramm was an undistinguished vocalist
>the music is really pretty dull, nothing interesting, no groove or memorable riffs or licks
>lyrics are rote 70s hard rock cliches
>the fact that they were assembled by Atlantic as a supergroup and weren't organic
>>
>>130320970
you listed all non-musical criteria.
i, for one,a have no interest if duke ellington or glenn miller had cool personalities, but 'take the a train' and 'in the mood' still sound cool and fresh today.

and foreigner have probably eight or nine hit songs that are still fun to play today, while the sex pistols (from roughly the same period) has one, 'pretty vacant', yet gets 100 times the press. lol.

>>130316651
Their biggest songs are not on this album which is their best selling album for some reason. This album is cookie cutter bullshit with 2 songs that were popular back then but faded away. But it sold twice as much as the album that has I Want to Know What Love Is.
>>
Always said this might be the most Canadian sounding classic rock band, that’s not Canadian. Probably because Canadian classic rock is mostly AOR
>>
>>130322634
yeah, it's like American April Wine
>>
>>130322601
Had 3 pretty famous rock hits, so dudes bought the album.
Know What Love Is was an obvious chick-bait power ballad and chicks didn't buy albums, they'd just buy the single.
