What are their worst and best albums?

the debut is solid.

also from under the cork tree is one of the catchiest, hook driven albums ever written as ridiculous as that sounds but its true. you can tell pete wentz and patrick were truly pop song writers from the jump but they translated it first to the pop punk emo crap from back in the day

Let's ignore post-hiatus.

The worst of Fall Out Boy, LP-wise, is obviously Folie a Deux. However, the best is going to be more subjective depending upon what vibe one thinks FOB should represent.

Personally, I used to love Infinity On High as a teenager, along with The Black Parade, but as I matured, I found them to be disingenuously flourished albums which are actually not that good.

That leaves Take This To Your Grave and From Under The Cork Tree. Take This To Your Grave is an excellent Pop-Punk album, and if you think Fall Out Boy is or should be a Pop-Punk band, you are going to be more high on the likes of Saturday and Chicago Is So Two Years Ago. However, if you feel that FOB is less bog standard than that, more indefinable, more innovative, then From Under The Cork Tree would be better, with tracks which defy a conventional understanding of what Pop-Punk is supposed to be: Nobody Puts Baby In The Corner, Dance Dance, Sugar We're Goin' Down.

I think it should really be split by where you are in life maturity wise. Even though both are youth-centric, I feel the tone of the first reflects someone trying to break into young adulthood, while the tone of the second is somebody who's already in it and is trying to come to terms with the journey there, especially regrets about things they could have done differently.

I feel like Infinity On High becomes too divorced from lived experience whereas the previous two had that coursing through their veins.

everything up to and including Folie is a 10/10 pop-punk/emo album. Save RnR would have been another 10/10, but they over-produced it to the point of everything sounding like a synth/sample. it was recorded on REAL instruments, but it all sounds fake. hopefully they'll do a 20th anniversary "stripped back" version and make it sound more like FUCT.

Infinity On High is not a 10/10 by any means. It sacrifices their emotional rawness and authenticity for commercially-appealing sonics which were intended to "up the ante" of the band's musicality in a way which ultimately fell flat coming from them. Folie a Deux is even worse, as it was emboldened by the previous album's apparent success to even so far as disregard being appealing at all, for the "artistry" of it all purely.

Thoughts on AB/AP?
>>
Take This to Your Grave is their only true great album. Cork Tree has some good stuff but also some filler. Everything else is garbage and not worth anyone's time.
>>
Was Mania that bad?
